April 22

Day 2 of recovery.  I slept okay considering I can't move around a whole lot without making it a major production.  I'm on minimal pain killers.  As long as I'm sitting or laying still it doesn't hurt but when I get up or change position I can really feel it.  Gonna head out to the store this afternoon just to get outside a bit before Katie heads off to work for the night.  I'm going to start monitoring my weight and resting HR on a regular basis.  I need to be very careful over the next 4-6 weeks so I don't put on a lot of weight sitting around.  Once I get the "okay" to get into the pool I'll be swimming A LOT.

I'm home. I made it through the night without using any pain medication...it just didn't really hurt. Unfortunately the doctor didn't come by to see me till 3pm this afternoon so I sat in my sweaty stinky hospital bed all day when I could have been home.

Spent the day laying in a hospital bed waiting to go for surgery. The plan is to use a couple of screws to hold the pieces in place while the bone heals. Looking at as much as 3 months off my feet befoe I can begin recovery. Looks like my season is over.

Went for an easy recovery spin and ended up involved in a hit and run...this is not good.

TRAVEL - Nothing like spending 10 hours in the car the day after a hard marathon!  At least I'm back home and can finally get a decent night sleep in my own bed.  It's hard to describe the pain in my legs today.  My joints (ankles, knees, hips) took as much of a beating as my muscles and will probably take longer to recover but my muscles just feel like they've been beat with a baseball bat.  Obviously I need to take it easy and recover but I'm anxious to get out there and start at least jogging around...maybe this weekend.
