- Short swim just to say I did it. Spending the weekend at my brother's place on a little lake in north-western Montana. Snow on the mountain tops. The fishing thermometer off the end of the dock said the water was 50F early in the morning. By noon it was reading 49F, which makes sense I suppose since the air temp was low 40's. It wasn't going to get any warmer so I pulled on my wetsuit, two swim caps, even the zoomer fins, and dived in. It was a bit breathtaking for the first few seconds. Then the exposed skin was getting numb as I was starting to make heat from the inside, working at swimming, and it really didn't seem too bad. I swam around for 10 to 15 minutes, probably 5 or 6 hundred meters, even starting to play around with some short sprints, before I climbed out again.

- Afternoon bike commute only. 2x3k=6km, 15min.
- Finally got my butt out the door again, for a run after work today. My HR averaged a bit higher for several reasons. For one thing, the wind was blowing some, more at the start and less towards the end when it would have helped. It was sunny out and it turned out to be warmer than I expected so I was a little overdressed. Then there was the snack I had when I got home from work before I decided to run. And to top it off, I was trying some different stride variations, running drills, and an occasional little pick up or sprint. So the pace is a bit better than usual but I also did a bunch of other work on the way too. Even with all that, I was never out of breath or felt like I was pushing hard.
