Training since 7/28/07
April 28
April 27
Warm-up run.
Comments before seeing the results:
I got first place in my age group but only 19th overall. A few guys were there that have 85-95 USAT rankings points. Today was the first day I have ridden (other than the trainer) since the Oct 2007 Duathlon. I know I smoked the bike. There were a three 180 degree turn arounds that slowed everyone down, but I am sure I did 22+mph (and sucky runs again).

Real easy trainer time logged at 17 mph.
Tomorrow is my race. I'll ride my road bike because my new triathlon bike is not tuned up yet nor am I fit to it.
I have not even ridden outside since my October 2007 race. I doubt anybody else will race tomorrow with only trainer time logged.
My soreness is gone today and I took another easy day. I shoudn't feel tired tomorrow at least.

I took a day off from work and worked at the house and in the yard all day. I really really wore me out. I was tired and sore by 5PM and had a horrible head ache from dehydration and the intense sun light. I skipped a work-out again and instead went to my son's baseball practice.
I also worked on the used tri-bike I bought in Feb. I tried to set it up for my race this weekend but really don't know what I am doing the Campy Record components are new to me and the bike needs a tune-up. The rear breaks are loose too. I can't get the wheel centered between the breaks because of it. It also took me 15 minutes to figure out who to get air in the Zipp 404's and still when I did so the pump leaked ant the conection to the nozzle. I think I got about 90lbs of pressure in them, but I was looking for the max of 116. I also had to go the autoparts store to get a 10mm alan wrench to put on the left crank. Also unlike my Shimano 600 components, I can't find any way to turn off the index shifting. On my SH 600, if it is out of tune I can turn off the indexing and still shift OK.
I also did not like the tension of the shifters, I thought it would shift with less pressure. And I don't like the noise made by the little carbon fiber inserts on the Zipp 404 hubs.
I road the bike for the first time today (10 minutes around my block in sandles) and each time I wanted to shift my hand instinctively went to the down tube.
I plan to race my old road bike at my first event on 4/27. At least it is tuned up, and is something I am used to. I should only change my mind if I can the the Canondale in order and train on it.

Real easy recovery run. Any slower and I would have walked.
