Tried to push a little knowing that I was only going to do about 3 miles..Felt real good early and was puffing at the end...but heck... I was trying to run HARD.  I think this is the first I have been under 30 min for 3 miles in quite a while and that includes going 4/1 !!  Most of the time I was looking at the Garmin I was in the 8:20-8:45 range......COOL  :)

Have 4 on tap for tomorrow ( maybe with some fartlek sessions thrown in) then a long/easy 8 on Sunday with CM and Dr. GoodHands.

Good Luck jonathan22 and all others at Kona...I know you all will kick some IM a$$.

October 9

Carp...raining again this AM...Supposed to stop later so I will be able to run.

October 8

Couldn't get out and run today...working on the batting cage and it was raining like crazy...we need the rain but carp...I needed to get some miles in. Will make up for it tomorrow. The thing is...I don't feel bad at all about missing this run. I am at ease with the plan I am following and feel real good about not stressing over a missed day or 4. Other decisions are not made so easy but once made, a load is lifted from the mind. Being able to put things in place to stick to those decisions are another thing entirely.

October 7

Was going to go and run again today but some eork got in the way and also went and looked at a bike...we shall see...decent intro level road bike (LeMond) but they are having the usual "08" closeouts.  Still should have gotten in about 2-4 today but instead...came home and took a nap....I love being retired sometimes  ;-)

October 6

Rest and Recover today...legs  felt pretty good but I am glad I don't have a run scheduled.  Hips are still barking a little but maybe I can talk "J" into some freaky monkey $ex and work some of the kinks out......nope....WTF am I thinking ;)

WOW...what a "different" run.  Ran the first 5 alone and at a decent pace then hooked up with Dr. GoodHands.  At the 1.25 distance (for her) she started having stomach "issues".  We walked and tried to figure out what was up with that...don't think we really decided on anything for sure.  Continued walk/run (in that order) until she finished about 5 miles +.  I still had not quite 4 to go so I started again and felt well for a while but cut back to 3/1 from the 4/1 that I had been doing earlier.  Finished strong but was glad I was done.

Having some pain in my hips...used to have issues with tendonitis there...don't know....I know it is surely not because I am frickin old.  I'll monitor this for the rest of the week.

Rant on....Why the frick do they not make things to fit "grown" people????  Yes....I know 6'4" is above average but why can't we at least have some things that accomodate us.  I get home and am going to take an "ice bath" (no ice really just stupid cold water).....but NOOOOOOO that won't work because I can't straighten out my legs in any tub in the house...WTF.  Believe me the benifits outweigh the hassles but that's no comfort to my frickin legs.......Rant OFF.

I have been working a lot lately on "mental toughness" and today was super in that respect.  The fact that I started and finished strong and didn't let the problems that Dr. GH had distract me from my goals.  I have told her that we are together in this and while I believe hanging with her through her "issues" was VERY important, it was critical for me to stick with it and finish the distance.
