Just enough to get wet and work some of the kinks out. Used fins much of the time and went easy.
This past weekend was just the first of many "Firsts" for me this year in both my athletic as well as personal life. If they go as well as this Sunday went then this is going to be a wonderful and outstanding year. If I learned anything from this adventure it is to know that having someone count on you and trust and believe in you is so important to self fullfillment and the best way to achieve success for you and those counting on you is to have a great plan...and STICK TO IT.
And so begins a wonderful journey of 2009 in which I hope to make some major changes in this Old School approach of mine. I really hope that these changes lead to a better person behind this name and to fewer dark days.
We shall see.

All I can say is WOW...it was WAY more cool than I could ever have imagined and we ROCKED. I have read so many marathon RR's that have people bonking for one reason or another but most looked like the main reason was not sticking to the original plan...Well our plan was called "Upright and Ambulitory" and we stuck to that and it was perfect.
I can not say enough about the way Disney puts on a show and has things organized...(sometimes almost to a level of being a little creepy...but I'm OK with that in this case) I can only say that this, to me, is the ultimate marathon for a first timer. Great destination, great weather, flat course and plenty of extra stuff to do (except for finding breakfast on Race Day...it's in the RR)
Thanks for all of the Inspires and PM's they made a huge difference...In fact Dr. GoodHands did something that was really cool for keeping her in the right brain mentality. She had friends/co-workers etc. sign up for individual miles to think about her and send some positive energy from mile 6 through mile 26. Those miles that were not picked she "assigned" folks from BT, The Manatee Mentor Group and our families to complete the list. At each mile marker she would pull out the list and check who had that mile and she would feed off of their energy. Even if they didn't know they had a particular mile she would think about them and knowing that the person was wishing her well would help get her through that mile and on to the next. She never wanted to let that person down by quiting in "their" mile. It really worked.

Just trying to get the jitters out and enjoy the scenery.
My wife used to work for ASI (the photo folks for the race and the ones that shot most every NAS-Ironman event) So I found one of her friends at the booth and she was able to hook me up with some 1 day passes to one of the parks....SCORE. We scoped out the MK but were unsuccessful with our goal to have Dr. GoodHands picture taken with Cinderella (sp?)
Went to a New York style local Itallian eatery....decent pasta...and a VERY interesting server and hostess story that can only be told in person and with hand jestures ;) ;) Let's just say it is something I will never forget.
