Felt GREAT in the pool.  Yes...I just typed that and I really mean it.  I have seen other people put in their blog/thread that they finally "feel it".  Being a pitching coach I understand this concept but have never felt that way with swimming.  I have always had a natural stroke...I just hated the endurance part.  Well, I think I am "feeling it" in that I am becoming more efficient with my stroke and the 50's that were kicking my tail have turned into 100's and even though the 100's hurt like crap...I can go again after 30 sec. instead of 2 minutes rest.

Went to see Dr. GoodHands...she is the frickin BEST.  I am sure the swim this morning helped the back but she worked her magic and I feel like a million bucks...although I have a $100 body and a .10 cent brain...I still feel like a million.  ;)

Sport
  • Stretching
  • 20m

The Stretching was more about self preservation than a workout.  I bagged the bike today because I put a minor strain on something in my back.  I AM going to get it done later in the week but decided to lay low today and go see Dr. GoodHands tomorrow.  Stretched for 20 and felt better and still get my Peachy Points.

Week 1 of "The Plan"

Mon:     Bike - 45 min. Easy
Tue:     Swim - 20-30 min. Recovery
Wed:    Bike - 60 min. Easy
Thu:     Run - 20-30 min. Easy
Fri:      Off (Core Work...No OFF days during Peach Challenge Month per AbbieR
  )
Sat.     Bike - 60-90 Easy
           Swim - 20-30 Recovery
Sun.    Run - 30-45 Easy

There are times when I wish I was in my 30's again...not very often, but occasionally.  This is one of them.  When I look at a plan like this and see that it is not overwhelming but then I realize it is listed as a week of "Active Recovery".  This is really going to MAKE me manage my time and energy better.  I have enough of both for this journey, I just don't always manage them properly..."oh look, there's a kitty"...yes, I am BLESSED with A.D.D. and I do call it a blessing.  This is going to be a very interesting ride.

We shall see.

Sport
  • Spinning Class
  • 1h 00m

Today we have our Kick-off for our Tri Team...2009 Edition.  Last year we had 43 people do their first Tri (including me).  This year we are hoping for 75-80 First-Timers.  It is going to be great to try and help some of these people change their lives.

Headed to the gym for spin class and a 20 min. treadmill migrane.

Spinning for 1 hour then 20 min. run.

OMG...this instructor....UP---DOWN---SCREAM---RACE---SIT---SCREAM---STAND---SCREAM---REST (screamed that too).....I wish I could take a Mila or a Yanti class...(sigh)

Felt REALLY good to run.  Went the 20 min. with no walk breaks.  Along with my swimming I am really going to work at running the distances/time without breaks.  I know how to pace myself off of those and I can do that if need be but I want to get back to running like I used to.

We shall see.

OK...OK...Let's not get carried away now....three times in the pool in one week.....Yes...I am...well... awesome, I suppose.

Really, I think my belief in "The Plan" from the marathon and the results  are helping me have more faith in getting in the pool = results.  The only thing I need to be a very good swimmer is endurance.  I love to get wet...just don't like to go far.

Didn't get the bike in today but will in the A.M. (9:30 spin class) and a 20 run as well.

Sport
  • Massage
  • 1h 30m

OK...I am going to cheat a little bit for the "Peach Challenge"....I know massage is classified in the "sports" category but come on people.  Anything that good can't be called training...if it was I would go PRO.  Surprised at how good I felt from a soreness and stiffness standpoint.  I am sure that is about to change.  Dr. GoodHands is absolutly the best.  Case closed.  Thanks again as usual.

I start my new PLAN tomorrow. "How to Kill a Friend in 32 40 Weeks + Taper" by Jonathan22.....J22 didn't think the original 32 weeks was enough, so being the great friend he is...well he added 2 FRICKIN MONTHS to the maddness merriment.  Thank you "J" for being the kind person that you are.  Jonathan you are a "harda$$" when it comes to training and I REALLY hope a ton of that rubs off on me over tha next 10 months....and YES I am very serious...I just have to type it, because if I say it out loud I am sure it might hurt.  ;)

We SHALL see.

Felt REAL GOOD in the water today.(Yes...Beth...you read that correctly ;) )  Still have a long way to go with the endurance but I am happy with the place I am starting.

Just enough to get wet and work some of the kinks out.  Used fins much of the time and went easy.

This past weekend was just the first of many "Firsts" for me this year in both my athletic as well as personal life.  If they go as well as this Sunday went then this is going to be a wonderful and outstanding year.  If I learned anything from this adventure it is to know that having someone count on you and trust and believe in you is so important to self fullfillment and the best way to achieve success for you and those counting on you is to have a great plan...and STICK TO IT.

And so begins a wonderful journey of 2009 in which I hope to make some major changes in this Old School approach of mine.  I really hope that these changes lead to a better person behind this name and to fewer dark days.

We shall see.
