Dr. GoodHands works her magic again. God bless that woman. Therapy for the body and for the mind...and when those two are right...then the soul in in tune as well.
We are working on her training plan for our Oly in May. Pretty sure we are going to tweak one of the wonderful BT plans. It was fun working with her through the marathon process...this is going to be just as fulfilling as we are doing our first Olympic and first HIM together this year. I really enjoy training with her because it keeps me focused because I have someone depending on me to make sure they are ready for big events in their life.....she makes me relax and kicks my a$$ on the massage table and I return the favor on the roads.
Stretched for 15-20 minutes this afternoon. Felt fine. Still need to incorporate some more strength training...especially upper body stuff.

Supposed to do a 1 hr. Bike ride tomorrow. 95% chance of rain so I'm moving it to Fri. and taking tomorrow as my "off" day. Going to see Dr. GoodHands for massage and we are going over her new Oly. Plan for May and her HIM Plan for Sept. Will still slide some stretching/core work in so my Peachy Plan doesn't take a hit.
WU- Drove to the PoolMain Set- 1500 yds.
Gimme some PURPLE in the graph !! 1500 yds. almost continuous… (quit laughing) Rested on the 100’s, about 30 sec. per, and used fins for yards 800-1100. When I use fins I hardly kick at all but it sure helps me get a much better feel for my body position. Didn’t time any of the 100’s except for the last one…it was 2:21 including a 25 yd breast stroke on the 3rd length.
Grand-ma Grace was in the lane to my left and was swimming when I got there…she is 65 (at least) and 50+ lbs. over her desired weight. On my right, Henry Hair-Plugs shows up about 15 minutes into my swim. Mid-40’s, avg. build, with the North 40 recently replanted. Appeared to be coming out of a mid-life crop rotation. Anyway….I am so glad I am not one of those guys that think they have to get into the pool and swim faster than most of the other guys and faster than ALL of the ladies, because if I was, I would have been SOL on this day. Grace was swimming (I guess you would call it that…although I saw the lifeguard look more than once thinking she was flailing for help) when I arrived and she went for the next 45 minutes NON-STOP…Frickin WOW. And Henry gets in about 15 minutes into my swim and starts out with a beautiful and very STRONG stroke….throws in flip turns and he is still going 45 min. later when I get out and I didn’t see him in the locker room after showering etc. so I don’t know how far he went but it had to be over 2500 and FAST.
Watching people like this that makes me feel better about the pool. I love being in the water and know that all I need is TITP to build my endurance. While I will probably never swim like Harry I know that if Grace can go 45+ min. and still go up the ladder out of the pool…then I know I can do HIM and maybe IM distances if I put in the work.

Bagged a bike ride today. Had to go about 1+ hrs. from the house and work then travel another 2 hrs. after that for some errands. Did some core and stretching this A.M. for Peachy Points. I have a 1500yd continuous swim tomorrow. Now for most of you that is a light workout...for me that is a Near Death Experience. I am really going to see how much of the 1500 I can do with very minor stoppage (even if I have to use some cheating with fins/paddles training aids.)
Have to help Dr. GoodHands find a better Training Plan for her Oly then HIM events this year. She is not comfortable with what she has and this needs to be a "Finish Upright and Somewhat Breathing on your on" type of simple plan...key word SIMPLE. She is stressed about the complexity of some of the ones we have looked at and I don't want to contribute ANYTHING to the stress level of the best Masseuse in Atlanta.
We shall see.

Good news and bad news....Bad news is that I didn't get to the pool today....good news is that I got in a REAL bike ride and I got in a bonus run.
Went to the Silver Comet Trail for a ride. Oldest S and Dr. GoodHands were along. Somewhat nippy outside but hey...it is January. This was my first real ride on my new bike since I got it in Sept. Since I spent all fall in marathon training I hadn't ridden in FOREVER. Also, first ride EVER with cleats. Once they got loosened up a little it went fine. Stayed in the middle ring and kept the cadence 70-<90 and I felt pretty good. The 2 sidekicks bailed after a while and I continued for a total of 1 hour. I love the new ride...just have to work on tuning up the engine a little LOT.
The Tri Team group was meeting to run at the River so I really felt since I was that close I should go there. Decided to do a 5k loop and went out at about 10min pace but couldn't hold it for more than about a mile. Ran 1mi. walked 1 min. then ran the 2nd and walked 2 min. then brought it home. Felt OK but to tired to go and get wet :( .

OH YEAH...went to a Chi Running Clinic this morning and it was pretty cool. Not the entire class just a 1 hr. free event put on bu our Tri Team. I may go back for the class...this was cool. I have been working on this type of running for about 6 months just from reading the book. Most of what she taught today confirmed I was doing it mostly correct.
Went out for a run today and focused on the techniques...WOW...Felt fabulous. Went out at a very comfy pace (2 miles) and realized I went out fairly fast for what was supposed to be a recovery run...no walking either. Spent 30 sec. at the turn around doing the math and necessary adjustments for the new running shorts ;) and brought it back home 12 sec. NEGATIVE SPLIT.
Continued on the trail for a walk...looking for DS #1 who was getting his walk in (just starting his Sprint Tri Program....way to go Matt). Walked for 20+ minutes.

Suwanee Greenway...a Little Bit Chilly but not too bad. Hard second half on the trail part...more uphill than I remember....or course I am not putting in walk breaks and I'm sure that makes a world of difference.
Got a LOT of junk to do the next 3 days so I have to arrange things to get all of the training in. That is a MUST.
Like most athletes (at least those on team sports) I have had a bunch of nicknames....some are even printable here (none of the Fire Dept. names are printable OR repeatable in mixed company) but my 2 grand-daughters that live with us have started calling me "Old School"...and I frickin LOVE IT.
