Woke up a bunch of times during the night...ugh.  I'd put out all my things to run in the am for my run, but I still managed to overdress...I knew right when I'd hit the sidewalk it was gonna be warmer than I thought, but oh well...I was walking and not turning back.  I looked a fool anyhow in my capri's and sexy socks, so whatever.

It was AWESOME to run along the lakefront...just spectacular.  It was sunny, breezy and there were lots of people out walking, running and riding. The city looked sparkling and new after the rain yesterday.  What a beautiful way to start the day!!!  It made the threshold mile repeats as pleasant as they possibly could be.

I was worried about doing the repeats for longer than ever before and at my new pace due to the run test.  I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would! :)  I did cut it 1 short though.  I slept in a wee bit longer than I planned, and knew the brood would be waiting for me to go eat breakfast.  I also was a little leary about the right bum not behaving, but it was fine.  Gotta love the mini roller! :)  I take that baby everywhere! The only thing that could have made the run better would have been company to share it with.  Wish my BT peeps could have been with me!

We had a HUGE breakfast (Alexis thinks all we Marshall women do is EAT) and shopped a lot.  We didn't buy squat...:(  No prom dress in Chitown either.  My daughter is losing patience.  I hope we can find a dress this week sometime!

The drive home was long and uneventful, and sadly we saw the last couple minutes of the game, only to see Butler lose it.  Booooo.  Maybe next year Bulldawgs.

Last breakfast and bs session at Madison...it's always hard to say good bye, but this year especially so, as it is our last.  Got a nice big hug from Rufus Reid...he is an amazing jazz bassist and has THE coolest bass voice.  Gonna miss that guy!  :(

Packed it up and headed to Chitown...just missed the 2pm architectural boat tour (by 2 people...dang) but we had lunch at Billy Goats (yum!) and walked the Miracle Mile till the 4pm ride.  Of course we got the crap weather...about 2/3's in the sky got scary, the winds were getting gusty and the rain started.   The good seats on the top deck weren't so hot then!  But the worst of it was our bonus kid for the trip Alexis got pooped on by a bird!  Ew!!! Of course I got the pleasure of cleaning the poor kid up!  May I repeat....EW!  We got soaked getting back to the car, but it wasn't boring, that's for sure! :)

We got checked into our bargin hotel...The Drake.  Fancy schmancy!  Hotwire special baby!  The bad news was it was almost as much as the room to park car!!! :)  We got settled in and took a cab to a restuarant called Blue 13.  Awesome food.  Then I had to ride the awful recumbant bike for 1:20 till the fitness room closed.  Not comfy.  No, not at all.  But I must say, my legs really do feel better when I spin them out.  I should have rented the damn bike in Madison.  Hmmph.

en run from Lowell to Picnic Point and back

Legs felt heavyish today.  This was supposed to be a run with strides, and I only did 2 cause my legs just didn't wanna.  So I didn't make um.  I was supposed to ride 2 hours today too, but my husband didn't think paying 75 bucks to ride a carbon fiber road bike was necessary...I was feeling a bit lazy and it was windy as hell, so I let his logic allow me to wimp.  Later that night I was thinking ....BULLSHIT.  He goes and plays at the casino with 200 to 300 bucks for a few hours at a time, whats the difference if I rent a bike and play for a few hours.  Meh.  Next time I ride damn it.

Kaity had her recital today.  She had a funky mood day yesterday, and had me and her studio teacher a bit worried.  She shook it off and after some sleep had a much better day.  She did ok at the performance for the recital.  Not her best, but no crashing and burning either.  Her teacher was happy and she got some nice comments from the other clinicians.  The evening performance was really good.  Her quartet did the hardest piece and they did it very well.  I am always amazed at what these kids can do in two days time!  Tissue please!  Our Last Madison trip for the Richard Davis Bass Workshop!!!

EN run in Madison...from Lowell along the lake to Picnic Point, into the campus neighborhood and back!

Kinda of sore from yesterdays hard effort adn looooong ride to Madison.  We hit the AWESOME mexican resturant in Edison Park we found last year and it was fab!

I got myself in trouble sitting next to my friend Larry from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra at the welcome meeting...all the clinicians (and me) were sitting in the same row and the host who is in is late 70's thought I was a clinician too.  He handed me the microphone to introduce myself... when I waved the microphone away he asked Larry to let his wife say hello... :-O! Needless to say, I had to clarify that no,  I wasn't his wife either!  Larry's first name is actually Marshall, so the ribbing began...I just told him afterwards he was gonna be my weekend husband.  He was cool with that!  After the kids got situated I headed out on my run.  Gorgeous!  The rowing crew boats were out, the sun was shining, it was windy and lots of folks were out enjoying the day!  I love running out to Picnic Point...I love the bike paths...l love seeing people of all ages out enjoying the weather and being active.  I love running by the lake.  I'm gonna miss coming here next Easter Weekend...yes I am.

Walked State street with Karen and Dave after lunch.  The icecream store was our agenda.  Mission accomplished.  Heaven Hash was what I had...and yes it was quite heavenly!  :)

Clinton River/Macomb Orchard Trail, Rochester to Romeo

AR only ride

Lots to do again today...2.5 hours of training, packing for everybody, laundry, phone calls...........time to get started.

* Hit the pool at Rochester LTF for my swim ... it was weird swimming for time and not distance.  I may have swum a bit more or less..I had to focus on sighting the time clock and pace...so I got a little confused on laps at times!   I felt very good getting out of the pool...not tired at all.  Cool.  Stretched in the hottub, showered, changed into my bike kit and headed to the trail.  I ran into Jennifer from Frasers MTB team at the trail head, we chatted then I took off.  I felt like a rock star cruising at 17.5 and 18.5 mph on the flat flat flat trail at AR pace.  That was until I turned around and realized I'd had a nice little tailwind! Heehee!

It was AWESOME out today.  So refreshing to be out in the world on my bike!  I googled the trail before leaving and found on the Macomb page a bike rack that was installed to honor Jogo's brother in law Ted who was a very active member of the Friends of the trail and a huge  mileage cyclist.  I took a picture of it on my ride!  Very cool.  I didn't ever meet Teddy, but if he was anything like his brother Bill, he was one wonderful person.

The spring peeper frogs were singing their sexy come hither mating song...gnats on the run yesterday, and horny frogs today...yep!  Spring is definately here!!!

Tomorrow, I run test and then it's off to Madison WI....home of the BEST organic icecream, The Richard Davis Bass Workshop and a little race known as IMOO!*

build section of yoga dvd

Had lots to do in the morning, and got most of it done including the extra financial aide nightmare UofM requires before they create a financial aide package for you (grrrrr) and the beg letter for volunteers for  next year's OATH board.

I dressed just right for the run in my long sleeved UA top and capris....let the funky tan lines begin!  :)  My run was less than stellar though.  My legs weren't sore per say...but I just felt ...awkward on most of this run.  My legs were kinda clunky feeling, and I was focusing on trying to stay at 10 min. miles with decent form.  After I warmed up (about 3.5 miles or so in) things improved a bit.  As did my pace.  Oops.  I hope my legs don't feel like this on marathon day.

The fun bits about the run?  I was pining for my corvette days...lots of them on the road today in the sunshine, I got my first gnat snack of the season (gross, but a SURE sign of spring in my book) and the sun felt delish on my bare calves and face.  :)  Oh yeah, and I hauled ass on the overpass hill.  Funny, but I used to avoid running the expressway overpass like the plague and now I figure my routes so I can run it at least once for a little hill work and free speed.  I like the free speed part! :)

Coach actually had yoga on my schedule, so I did the yoga dvd for build period as it has the itb section in it.  Ooooommmmmm.  That was niiiccccee!
