15 wu
1 mile at 9:00
15 cd

Had some weird dreams about training for tris and a gravel pit, and not having the right gear.  I wonder what Freud would have to say about that???

Cold and windy run.  Coach wanted me to run 20 wu and 20cd, but I didn't want to be on my feet that long.  Trimmed it to 15...I'm gonna have to focus really hard to hold pace.  I went too fast, then slightly slower than just under the 9:00 he wanted for the 1 mile.  Hmmm.  Focus for 4 hours.  This should be very interesting tomorrow!

I'm hoping the weather forcast is accurate.  I'd rather have the nice warmish temps instead of this chill today.  Oh well...what ever it is, we will all be running in it together no?

at the lab...ar only

Got woken in the middle of the night by Kaity sobbing hysterically.  I about had a heart attack.  She had a drama with a friend which she didn't want to discuss with me...only her friends could understand, so after about 30 minutes of hugging and trying to be helpful, (of course I can't be helpful...I'm just the dumb old mom) I went back to bed.  That was an awful way to wake up, and a not very pleasant way to try to go back to sleep, knowing I couldn't do anything to ease her stress.  You think you'll be able to sleep after the baby days are gone.  Nope, not always.

The ride in the lab was...fun, but,( good god I'm sick), boring.  I wanted to do the AC and VO2MAX stuff so much, cause I couldn't! Sick!  I'm a sick puppy!!!  I got to help a new guy Joe with the terms and timing of his ride though, so that was cool, and I got to chat while everyone was in recovery.

Tony set my pacing for me, gave me a few hints and we talked about training coming up this spring.  I have to give the legs a week off of running and then it's time to start building again for R4R half IM in early June.  Wow.  Early June!  YIKES!

Ahhhhhh

Note to self...running at night keeps you up late, especially when your still on Chicago Time.   :(

Massage was good...very relaxing...no major work with the race coming on Saturday, but I feel better for it for sure.  Have a swim to do, which I won't be doing late tonight...

Neighbor at the new property is being a d*ck.  Called the city inspector and he made a stop by this am.  We do everything with permits and the right way, so no real worries, but I am not liking that the neighbor is trying to make problems.  He had last right to make an offer on the purchase and didn't have the cash to buy the property.  So sorry you didn't get the house for half of what we paid for it like you'd hoped.  Now I have to manage my partner NOT going off on the neighbor.  Yippee.

Saturday is coming so fast...getting a little squirrelly...ok a lot. :)

*well...my afternoon didn't go as planned ... finally made it to Troy Lifetime only to have the lanes full and a class in the main pool, so I ran another errand and hit the Rochester pool...late.  Didn't wanna swim, but once I got started, it was quite nice.  I just swam and swam and swam.  This was an ar swim with just a time limit, so I ended up doing 3000 yards in the warm 20 yard lanes in the main pool.  I cramped in my calf and feet a bit and had to stretch, but otherwise I felt really relaxed during the swim.  I hit hte lap button after every 50 lengths and the first set was  17:21, and the second 2 just about the same at 20:49 and 21:03.*

in the hood of Troy, in the new kicks and tights

Picked up the dogs, Costco, Gas, Lowes for the flip house, laundry, made a massage appt., picked up my new tri treasure, got new kicks, made rack of lamb for delayed easter dinner, then ran.  Whew.  Lots going on today!

Got some new (same model) brooks today.  Ran in um tonight.  Felt good.   Hit my pace a couple times (shouldn't have) but it felt good.  Can't get the bloody garmin to work on bt or tp now.  Grrrrr.

Got my wetsuit and compression gear from Wiggle today.  Yay! Ran in the 2xu compression tights tonight... I'm going to try on the wetsuit right now!  Weeeee!  :)

Getting a little nervous about saturday...I may just be a little bit of a spaz....just a little. ;)

Tomorrow I get a massage...woofrickin'hoo!  :)

3x 1 mile Threshold w/5 ar
15ar

Woke up a bunch of times during the night...ugh.  I'd put out all my things to run in the am for my run, but I still managed to overdress...I knew right when I'd hit the sidewalk it was gonna be warmer than I thought, but oh well...I was walking and not turning back.  I looked a fool anyhow in my capri's and sexy socks, so whatever.

It was AWESOME to run along the lakefront...just spectacular.  It was sunny, breezy and there were lots of people out walking, running and riding. The city looked sparkling and new after the rain yesterday.  What a beautiful way to start the day!!!  It made the threshold mile repeats as pleasant as they possibly could be.

I was worried about doing the repeats for longer than ever before and at my new pace due to the run test.  I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would! :)  I did cut it 1 short though.  I slept in a wee bit longer than I planned, and knew the brood would be waiting for me to go eat breakfast.  I also was a little leary about the right bum not behaving, but it was fine.  Gotta love the mini roller! :)  I take that baby everywhere! The only thing that could have made the run better would have been company to share it with.  Wish my BT peeps could have been with me!

We had a HUGE breakfast (Alexis thinks all we Marshall women do is EAT) and shopped a lot.  We didn't buy squat...:(  No prom dress in Chitown either.  My daughter is losing patience.  I hope we can find a dress this week sometime!

The drive home was long and uneventful, and sadly we saw the last couple minutes of the game, only to see Butler lose it.  Booooo.  Maybe next year Bulldawgs.

bike at Drake Hotel...Ugh
avg 122 watts

Last breakfast and bs session at Madison...it's always hard to say good bye, but this year especially so, as it is our last.  Got a nice big hug from Rufus Reid...he is an amazing jazz bassist and has THE coolest bass voice.  Gonna miss that guy!  :(

Packed it up and headed to Chitown...just missed the 2pm architectural boat tour (by 2 people...dang) but we had lunch at Billy Goats (yum!) and walked the Miracle Mile till the 4pm ride.  Of course we got the crap weather...about 2/3's in the sky got scary, the winds were getting gusty and the rain started.   The good seats on the top deck weren't so hot then!  But the worst of it was our bonus kid for the trip Alexis got pooped on by a bird!  Ew!!! Of course I got the pleasure of cleaning the poor kid up!  May I repeat....EW!  We got soaked getting back to the car, but it wasn't boring, that's for sure! :)

We got checked into our bargin hotel...The Drake.  Fancy schmancy!  Hotwire special baby!  The bad news was it was almost as much as the room to park car!!! :)  We got settled in and took a cab to a restuarant called Blue 13.  Awesome food.  Then I had to ride the awful recumbant bike for 1:20 till the fitness room closed.  Not comfy.  No, not at all.  But I must say, my legs really do feel better when I spin them out.  I should have rented the damn bike in Madison.  Hmmph.

en run from Lowell to Picnic Point and back

Legs felt heavyish today.  This was supposed to be a run with strides, and I only did 2 cause my legs just didn't wanna.  So I didn't make um.  I was supposed to ride 2 hours today too, but my husband didn't think paying 75 bucks to ride a carbon fiber road bike was necessary...I was feeling a bit lazy and it was windy as hell, so I let his logic allow me to wimp.  Later that night I was thinking ....BULLSHIT.  He goes and plays at the casino with 200 to 300 bucks for a few hours at a time, whats the difference if I rent a bike and play for a few hours.  Meh.  Next time I ride damn it.

Kaity had her recital today.  She had a funky mood day yesterday, and had me and her studio teacher a bit worried.  She shook it off and after some sleep had a much better day.  She did ok at the performance for the recital.  Not her best, but no crashing and burning either.  Her teacher was happy and she got some nice comments from the other clinicians.  The evening performance was really good.  Her quartet did the hardest piece and they did it very well.  I am always amazed at what these kids can do in two days time!  Tissue please!  Our Last Madison trip for the Richard Davis Bass Workshop!!!
