This is the year, I stop saying "THIS IS THE YEAR"

Just like a big kids tri, there was a mechanical, a crash and stories after the finish. A great time.
After that, I was patiently waiting for registration to open up. I had to pick up my packet and get out of there for graduation. In my haste I forgot to correct my team status. Ooops! :)
Graduation was long (as expected) but nice. The principal is a great speaker and gave a funny, relevant speech. After photos we had a very nice (but kind of late) dinner with my brother and sister in law. Then we popped over to Jo and Bills to have a glass of wine to celebrate the girls graduation as they headed to the high school for the all night party. Then home to pack for the race and picnic afterwards. A very very full day...the kind of full that makes you smile all day!

swim buoy to buoy at belle isle with Coach and some teammates stopping at 3 spots out and back, practiced wetsuit removal
3 laps around Belle Isle with the team
Busy day on tap (for like, the next 3 weeks straight!) I need to get birthday/grad gifts, a cup (Brian is playing paintball in the morning) items for the house, groceries and downtown to Belle Isle by 5!
The granite looks great at Farhill, but working on a bigger house means lots more clean up for me. Good thing I have Kaity in tow to help me a bit. Hopefully we can get it to market next week! Someone is going to have a lovely home on a gorgeous lot in that place. All those windows I've been cleaning look out to a great big lush yard!
*Fun on Belle Isle today. Good swim with coaching by Tony, nice and easy ride of 2 laps, but I passed on the run. My knee was still bothering me, so I am played it safe and went for one last loop if the island, which had ganja in the air, hookers chatting up cops and LOTS of partiers getting ready to have their Friday night fun. I was happy to have Tony and Justin as escorts on that last lap, and be on my way back to boring old Troy at 7:45 I tell ya!*

Washed windows till 3:30, ran, made dinner then off to Honors Convocation at the high school. Wow...lots of smart kids heading out into the big world. My butt hurts from sitting on the bleachers for 3 hours! :)
The race report is finally up! :)

*my quads, glutes and the right knee didn't much care for the first threshold repeat, but as always the first one sucks the most. It got much better (still hard) after that. AC was kinda fun. Grrrr! Big power for a short time! Lots of folks were power testing including Tony. That boy can suffer. Makes me feel kinda wimpy. It was good to be a cheerleader for everyone though. It totally makes a difference in the last few minutes!
Swim was good (or so I thought) until my descending 100's. After the last one Andrea gave me a look. The "I'm disappointed in you young lady" look. I got the feed back that she thinks I should and could be pulling a LOT more water(again). The windmill action was brought up (again). Domino was in the pool and he talked with me and let me watch his stroke. Then he swam with me and watched me. He gave me a couple things to think about and swam with me again. I get it, but it's gonna take a LOT of work to make it habit. Damn. Tony jumped in the pool and did his "windmill" stroke, which was hilarious and very extreme to show me how I'm NOT propulsing myself in the water. Sooooo, coming off of a pr swim in my first HIM, guess what? I'm STILL doing it wrong! LOL! If I can figure this out by IMFL, just think how much energy I'll be saving myself! Yes, I think it's worth it to try and master this.*

Legs are still sore in the quads, right glute and right knee. Felt good to move a bit today though. Thank goodness Coach isn't making me powertest this week.
I'm off to get ART, and a few 70.3 stickers for me and my teammates. :)

The meeting went great. A mom hosted at her fancy pants clubhouse, we had lots of 8th grade parents attend and all the board positions that were open got filled except one! Whew!!! I am so happy for Lauren that she won't get stuck doing an additional job like I did the last two years. President is enough for heaven's sake! I am sure the new board will do a fine job, and I am relieved that it is in good shape for years to come! :)
I offered to buy Alan and several of the "graduating" parents a drink, so that was how I finished my night off. :)
So many first's and last's this week! My first HIM, last OATH meeting, Brian's last concert of the year, Kaity graduates, and my first time racing at Motor City this weekend. Wowza. So much emotion at the Marshall house!
