Macomb orchard trail.
Road easy with a few pick ups on the way back with Thor and Pammy
The boy is still sick and punky feeling. Even a little pukey.
I had a nightmare about getting lost on the marathon course, and crying and crying and crying. Nice. Guess I'm a little concerned deep in the grey matter about not previewing the course. Too bad. Shut up brain!
Riding alone today once again. Seems no matter what I've been training on my own out of the lab. Boo.
Sending lots of mojo to Amy, Pat and Simon kicking some IMTX ass today! :)
*changed my plans to ride with Pam and Brian this afternoon. Didn't want to ride that late, but didn't want to leave Briguy alone when he was feeling off. It was great to ride with those two! Right knee and itb is very tight. Right neck/shoulder was tight by the end of the ride too. My right side feels kinda off. Beautiful day to be in the saddle!*

Mother nature is kicking my ass! All of the u shaped bed is weeded, planted and mulched. Part of the weird bed is weeded and mulched. Note to self...don't blow off the back yard for a whole year!

Swim was good. (woke up before the alarm...a miracle)
Nailed my run. (saw an awesome hansons runner chick during cooldown and tried to keep up her cadence...hr went too high, but I tried for a little while lol)
Lunch with the girl went well. (love Ann Arbor...love my girl)
Sprayed the weeds out at the lake. (can't wait to hang the hammock!)
Tired and ready for a little r&r tomorrow. :)

So, I chose not to do speedwork yesterday (the right decision I am sure of it) and I still feel groggy, but I will get things done around here and ride tonight with yoga perhaps. Made a smoothie for breakfast as the scale did indeed scream this am, and will eat well. Enough. I've worked too hard this winter to screw off and eat crappy before the mary next weekend.
* 4.5 hours of yard work, major drama with the girl, bitch and bike therapy and threshold was just what I needed.*

got to bed late, and woke up just about every hour.
Super sucky. So didn't want to swim. Felt a little better by the end of swim (i sure can do a lot on autopilot) but I'm pooped. There was lots of waiting today in the pool for the slower lanes. I didn't really have the energy to do the big dog workout, but I got cold a lot this am from waiting. almost 5' between one of the sets! Too long!!!
*update...felt like shit all day long even after a little laydown post swim. It was warm out, I ate poorly, got kayaks with Dave for the lake house, and more frigging mulch, which I have to finish weeding to lay down in the jungle. Went to BWW's for dinner even though I have lots of good for me food in the house. Had a beer. Watched tv and still could not get to sleep until late. Tomorrow the scale will scream, and I hope I feel better!*

8 miles at Mary Pace
FAIL
hig rpms recovery in the hood
First OWS of the year at Tyla's place...no motor lake till 10, so it was up early to be there by 8. Gorgeous lake...it was warm and smooth as glass today! Swam with Handsome John, and Brad, one of Tyla's Tri 4 LIfe teammates. Took lots of breaks to eyeball Brad and John...Tyla broke her wrist last week, so this is probably the only time she and I will be swimming "together". John is also known as the Muffin Man, as he always brings Tim Horton Muffins for snacks post workout. Today he opened the box and it was donuts. Bummer...none for me since I had the run to do. If I'd known how much of a crapper run it was to be, I'd have had that chocolate glazed one for sure!
So, instead of running Paint creek again, Tyla showed me where the Polly Ann trail was...same sort of deal...crushed pea gravel and flat. Cool. 4 out, 4 back. (she is lucky....her lake and this trail are all within 5' of her new house!) So off I go....my pace is too fast, then I slow myself down. Mile 2, same thing, mile 3, better pacing throughout the mile, then about 3.5 the crap hits the fan. Had to stop to pee...HAD to. HR was very high for pace, effort seemed like threshold. Walked, started again, walked again hr jumped, felt like my chest was gonna explode. It was so weird! It was kind of like the 20miler that was crap, only harder feeling. I took gu's, drank, and still felt super off. Came back to my car at 5.35 (the trail ended and after the sidewalk ran out I turned back, not sure where the trail picked back up again) and debated just stopping. then I decided to try for the 8 at a slower pace, but ended up turning back. It just didn't seem worth it to achieve the mileage, since I was NOWHERE near pace and felt like shit. I was pretty angry about it since I'd had friday off and saturday's ride was easy. But I realized that I just was off today, and to let it fly. Better off today than next Saturday.
In the evening after a nice dinner with the boys on the back deck I went for my recovery spin, which I forgot to change my watch to bike for till more that half way through the bike. I was sweating a ton for my high cadence fluffy ride. This heat, I'm not used to it!
