walt reynolds itb exercises

Another crappy night's sleep. :(  Hot flashes have diminished, but are still there I'm sad to say.  Swim was fun though, and I got to swim with Seashell! :)  The races were good fun at the end of the workout.

Then I went straight to Paint Creek for my little 3 mile jaunt at pace.  I was so excited to see Desi Davila on the trail today with one of the hanson Brothers riding beside her!  Such a great grin she had on her face.  :)  I'm taking that as a good omen to see one of our countries olympic marathoners doing her thing! :)  My run felt decent, but I went too fast. I MUST BE DISCIPLINED on Saturday.  Must!  My right side was a little talky too, but I will do walt reynolds, stretch, maybe peak flow yoga tonight or tomorrow and relax.  After I finish getting myself packed that is. ;)

My husband is a peach.  I didn't even HEAR the alarm go off, so he got up with the boy, and let me sleep.  He is stressed out though.  Big time work issues.  We talked at length before he left for work.  I have a feeling he is going to act on his desire to quit.  He has been talking about it for about a year.  We are fiscally ok if he does for a while, but I really don't want to go on a money diet.  And I will have to really go on a money diet.  Spain and IMFL may be my last big money tri's for a while if he quits.

Peak flow by sage roundtree...damn near fell asleep on the floor!

shit sleep. :(  Ibuprofin worked on my shoulder at least.

Swim was good.  Main set I was 4th of 5.  I kept creeping up on Batman, then Tall Scott, then I got behind Joe (our lane leader) in the last set, and that was good.  I feel like most of my lane can go faster in shorter distances than me, but can't hold pace quite as well in longer sets.  I guess that's because I really can't go fast, but I can certainly go long.  I was happy with the 100's today though.  Seems like I'm getting in better swim shape a bit.  Next week we start swimming OUTSIDE! :)  And on the 6th Lake Erie OWS's start up.  I will be ready for  the Worlds swim, I am sure of it! Thank goodness I started swimming with the team.  That's the only reason I'll be prepared...I WANT to swim with my team.  :)

*ran from home in my new green skirt to the track.  Had 6 400m repeats on the schedule, but I guess I can't count and did 7. :/ Still feeling off.  Hit my splits, but didn't feel snaptastic like I'd hoped.  Felt the best on the run home.  Praying for cool weather on Saturday!!!  Did yoga at 9:40 and almost crashed during it. Still was up till 11.  Long day!*

I woke up wanting pancakes...it's been an age since I've made them, and I decided to try pumpkin pancakes for the first time.  Um, wow...they are amazing.  Sooooo yummy!  I decided to make a second batch with whole grain mix to toss in the freezer, but they wern't as yummy texture wise as the regular mix.  Going to try my other brand of whole grain next time to see if I like that better.  Dave even enjoyed them! :)

Got some errands done, hit the weeds again at the lake house with another gallon of roundup (oy) and made a fabulous dinner salad.  I'm known as the salad queen in my family, and I'm proud to say, I've still got it baby. :)

We walked the pups after dinner, and they boys have a little gaggle of kids in their fan club. They just want to pet the pretty doggies. :)  They loved it of course.  It is so funny to see how they are so geeked to walk the first half, then tongues are hanging and they are behind us for the second half.  Not endurance doggies, that's for sure.

My neck is really sore today, and my right side is still off.  Taking some ibuprofin at bed tonight. Hoping that helps.

hig rpms recovery in the hood

First OWS of the year at Tyla's place...no motor lake till 10, so it was up early to be there by 8.  Gorgeous lake...it was warm and smooth as glass today!  Swam with Handsome John, and Brad, one of Tyla's Tri 4 LIfe teammates.  Took lots of breaks to eyeball Brad and John...Tyla broke her wrist last week, so this is probably the only time she and I will be swimming "together".  John is also known as the Muffin Man, as he always brings Tim Horton Muffins for snacks post workout.  Today he opened the box and it was donuts.  Bummer...none for me since I had the run to do.  If I'd known how much of a crapper run it was to be, I'd have had that chocolate glazed one for sure!

So, instead of running Paint creek again, Tyla showed me where the Polly Ann trail was...same sort of deal...crushed pea gravel and flat.  Cool.  4 out, 4 back.  (she is lucky....her lake and this trail are all within 5' of her new house!)  So off I go....my pace is too fast, then I slow myself down.  Mile 2, same thing, mile 3, better pacing throughout the mile, then about 3.5 the crap hits the fan.  Had to stop to pee...HAD to.  HR was very high for pace, effort seemed like threshold.  Walked, started again, walked again hr jumped, felt like my chest was gonna explode.  It was so weird!  It was kind of like the 20miler that was crap, only harder feeling.  I took gu's, drank, and still felt super off. Came back to my car at 5.35 (the trail ended and after the sidewalk ran out I turned back, not sure where the trail picked back up again) and debated just stopping.  then I decided to try for the 8 at a slower pace, but ended up turning back.  It just didn't seem worth it to achieve the mileage, since I was NOWHERE near pace and felt like shit.  I was pretty angry about it since I'd had friday off and saturday's ride was easy.  But I realized that I just was off today, and to let it fly.  Better off today than next Saturday.

In the evening after a nice dinner with the boys on the back deck I went for my recovery spin, which I forgot to change my watch to bike for till more that half way through the bike.  I was sweating a ton for my high cadence fluffy ride.  This heat, I'm not used to it!

Macomb orchard trail.
Road easy with a few pick ups on the way back with Thor and Pammy

The boy is still sick and punky feeling.  Even a little pukey.

I had a nightmare about getting lost on the marathon course, and crying and crying and crying.  Nice.  Guess I'm a little concerned deep in the grey matter about not previewing the course.  Too bad.  Shut up brain!

Riding alone today once again.  Seems no matter what I've been training on my own out of the lab.  Boo.

Sending lots of mojo to Amy, Pat and Simon kicking some IMTX ass today! :)

*changed my plans to ride with Pam and Brian this afternoon.  Didn't want to ride that late, but didn't want to leave Briguy alone when he was feeling off.  It was great to ride with those two!  Right knee and itb is very tight.  Right neck/shoulder was tight by the end of the ride too.  My right side feels kinda off.  Beautiful day to be in the saddle!*

Rest day...sort of.  Did my core from monday, might do yoga from wednesday and gardened my butt off again for like, the 4th day in a row?  No time for the kayak as planned.  Perhaps tomorrow after my ride :)
