Today the waves were only about 2-3'. I could swim a little, but not much. Again, complete and utter chaos. If the lake stays like this, it will be a long race day.

Can you say holy shit batman?? 3-4' waves crashing in on us. There was no way. Let my full blown anxiety kick in. By evening, I had a headache the size of Texas. Lake Erie is not something to be messed with.

Travel day to Sandusky, OH. Stayed at Hotel Breakers. Hotel is decent. First impression is not the best as they don't know anything about the race ie: where to check in, anything..

I have a flat tire on my road bike, which is on the trainer. Rather than messing with that, I ditched the ride and just went for a run instead. Ran on the trails at home with Eddie and Max. They had fun. Who knew a cat would like running?? LOL!!

I am going to go to the funeral home tomorrow and spend some time with my grandma there. I'm going to have my very own private pre-funeral. Bless my mom for arranging that for me. Plus, I'm spending the whole day with my mom. That will be nice. I will be able to go to Sandusky and be at peace with my decision.
Then, it's business as usual. Leaving for OH on Thursday as planned and I'm going to give it hell. I didn't spend the last year, including having foot surgery, for nothing!

brick run. felt great!

Talked to my mom today and my grandma's funeral is FRIDAY, the day of athlete check-in. If that ain't the shits. I guess my uncle and cousin can't fly in until later in the week. I am pretty upset by this. I asked my mom if there is any way that I can go to the funeral home to see her on Wednesday. She said that she would let me know. What a dilemma to be in.

Long run today. Very good run. Cathartic.

So, my grandma died this morning shortly after 2am. My mom and grandpa were with her. It was very peaceful for her. I am so glad that she didn't linger. I will miss her. I have so many fond memories of her. This week will be interesting to say the least. Not sure when the funeral is yet. I'm in taper.. we leave for OH Thursday.. emotions... this is the first of my 4 grandparents to pass. How lucky am I?? 39 with ALL of my grandparents, til now. I got to go see her again yesterday. She was much worse than Thursday and she said "bye bye" to me. Wow. I am very a lucky, fortunate person to have gotten to say goodbye to my grandma.
I believe that we presented with things at certain times in our life to test our strength. I am a strong person and I know that I can handle the challenge of the week and give myself and my family the strength and love that we will all need to get through it.
I did not cry on my run today, thank goodness, probably because the weather was so beautiful and I didn't feel death was knocking on MY door! LOL! I did think of her though.. especially when this beautiful monarch butterfly flew with me for a couple of minutes. I imagined that maybe it was her.. giving me strength.
