Run
  • 1h 42m 22s
  • 10.00 miles
  • 10m 14s /Mi

Fast transition to run on TM. 10 miles, fast after first 5.

First 5: 54:34 ahr 155
Next 4: 37:48 ahr 172. Last 1/2 of 4th mile was at sub-9 pace.
TM was going to time out during the last mile, so I did it as a cool down. Ahr: 153.

The first ~hour of this was while watching MTV's Charm School with Mo'Nique. That mansion is going to need a thorough delousing after those chicks leave! Um, wow.

Swim
  • 27m 04s
  • 1600.00 yards
  • 01m 41s /100 yards

Instructions were to swim 1600 fast. I may have done an extra 50 or 100 in here. Note to self: spaghettios do not make for a good pre-swim meal.

Well, puppy has been sick since yesterday afternoon--throwing up every couple of hours amazing amounts of fluid.  I think it's from swimming in and drinking from a really scuzzy pond yesterday after getting overheated running a field.  We took both dogs out to the hunt club so Sierra could get to know the place.  She hasn't been in a kennel in years, and both dogs are going to be at the club's kennel when we go to CdA.  Ocky took Tahoma to run the field while Sierra got to know the kennel staff and office.  Tahoma got hot, then went in the pond.

She started throwing up on the ride home (in her box), then threw up about 5 times while we were out running other errands, then threw up several more times through out the evening and night.  As of about 4:30 this morning, I was sure I was going to have to take her to the vet today.  But she hasn't thrown up since--instead she is just very lathargic.  So the upshot is I'm home today.  Hopefully I will be able to get a nap in!

Spontaneous Rest Day!  I decided I needed to run errands to get ready for the IM.  I wanted to make sure that I wasn't freaking out over the next week and a half trying to get everything done.  The workout I had scheduled for today will be moved to tomorrow.

Rode in Boulder with hubby. Rode out to Hygiene, to Rabbit Mountain, and Lyons before looping back. Actually had a couple from N. Boulder draft off of ME! Wahoo!

So it looks like coach has worked things out with the owner of ATP so that there will not be a break in coaching.  Major relief!  That was just one thing I did not need to stress over right now!

WU: 400 SKDS, 5 X 50 (25 sculling front, 25 sculling side) Sculling is SO SLOW!!
MS:
Every 4th 25 very fast in the next set:
P 500, 400, 300, 200, 100

C-D 100 back, breast and free

My hands were numb after that track workout last night.  Took forever to thaw them out!

Trying to manage a minor freak out--seems the ATP Center (which my coach works through) is closing.    Cortino is starting up a new business, and is trying to arrange it so athletes are transferred to his new business without any interruption in coaching service.  All sounds great, fine and dandy, but he is still working out details with the owner of ATP, and if there is a break in service, it would be the 2 weeks surrounding the IM.  Last week of the taper, first week of recovery, race strategy....

Breathe, breathe, breathe...

W/U: 16:38 ahr 136
M/S: 15 x 800, w/ 1 minute RI. Pace was supposed to be 20 seconds faster than race pace. When I talked to coach, he said I should aim for 4:42/4:43. But when I did the first 2 at 4:34, I just couldn't imagine going any easier, so I adjusted.
1: 4:34 ahr 159
2: 4:34 ahr 162
3: 4:32 ahr 164
4: 4:35 ahr 164

10: 4:34 ahr 167
11: 4:34 ahr 167
12: 4:33 ahr 169
13: 4:34 ahr 167
14: 4:34 ahr 168
15: 4:32 ahr 170
C/D: 15 (about--forgot to stop the watch)

Track workout tonight.  15 x 800 at race pace-20'.  Reps 10-15 may hurt a bit!

REST DAY!!!

I think I'll be doing some stretching and spending quality time with the foam roller this evening. :)

I seem to have developed a breakfast burrito addiction.  Little Anita's chorizo with green chile.  Mmmmm.  I had one yesterday.  I keep thinking about it today.  This may get ugly. :)

Masters swim
W/U: 350 swim, 250 kick
M/S: 350 pull neg split, 7x50 swim medium fast, 250 pull neg split, 5x50 swim fast, 150 pull neg split
Kick: 500 w/o board(alternating free and non-free by 100s), 100 kick free with board.

So I think I've decided on a marathon for the Fall.  I wanted to pick one with a half-mary option for my mom to do.  She's a bit frustrated with her loss of fitness since the accident, so it would be nice to give her a goal.  After looking at the options, I think I'll be doing the Sacramento Cowtown Marathon on October 7.  My goal time would have won my age group last year--not often I can even dream of a podium! ;)
