Recovery run. Much cooler out this morning. It almost felt nice

At home visiting the family for a couple of days since I didn't visit over the 4th

78 and a good fog this morning. I guess that's comparatively cool. At least most of the fog lifted halfway through and it didn't feel as if I was sucking air through a wet blanket

Went out and tried to keep up with the fast kids. That didn't last. Ran the first mile sub 6, but followed that with a couple of 6:30s. Came in sub-20 for 9th overall

Cool down

Nice day for a well run little local race.  Was hoping my top end speed would be a little faster than that, but I'll always take a sub-20 minute 5k.  Now I can go relax and be as American as I can be by grilling a steak and drinking beer :)

Got out a little later than I wanted. Explored some parts of Ames I've never been to before. You eventually run out of sidewalk if you keep heading west

July 2

Rest day here.  I'm going to do a little bit of schedule juggling this week.  I have a 9 miler with 5 of that at LT on the schedule tomorrow, but I think I'm going to run a 5k on the 4th, which I'll swap for that workout.  I figure I can warm up 3 miles, run the race, and then cap it off with another 3.  The race will be a little higher intensity than prescribed, but the shorter distance seems to be a decent trade-off.  Of course this means I've got to get up well before the ass crack of dawn to knock off 14 miles tomorrow, but that's a small price to pay to have some fun on Wednesday

Got out there early but still pretty muggy. Couldn't wear my sunglasses because they kept fogging up. Shoes were sweat logged before the halfway point and I actually stopped a couple of times to drain them. That was gross. Other than that things went pretty well. Even splits throughout and no slowdown the last few miles
