Ride after work... Hot... Some reason every ride starts off shitty... by mile 7-8 things feel a little better... 10 and above I can cruise... But that beginning absolutely hurts.

Ride today after work. Just can't seem to get up and get to the pool. I really need to get on top of this. I have the endurance to swim the distance in one shot... but I really need to work on swimming fitness. I will get to the pool tomorrow. Looking at yesterday's run compared to last time I ran 9.6... June-BPM Avg 157, pace was 8:10/mi, temp in the 60s Yesterday BPM Avg 165, pace 8:30/mi, temp in the high 80s Body does not like the heat... because I felt like I had to push harder to even keep the slower pace. Could be the dehyration from the temp or just the higher core temp... Will have to keep watch on that for the race in August... I'll be coming off the bike around 11am and running to almost 1pm... I have no doubt it will be hot.

Walk run with the wife. She is struggling with the run. She gets side stiches pretty easy... I think it is from not breathing right, pushing too hard, and stressing a little to much. She is keeping at it though.

This run was not very pleasant at the end. Last 4 mile loop was almost painful. Pace really dropped. It was a combination of the heat and hydration I think. I will try my fuel belt the next run to see if that helps any. 1/2 liter of water, 1 gel at 45.

Rain last night... Didn't get my ride in... Didn't hit the trainer either. Should have swam this morning but I didn't sleep very well last night... Go figure. So this is what I know. Merit/Raises (basically 3.7% this year which would maybe offset inflation) delayed 6mo for all managerial/executive track people (that's me), 90 jobs out of 2,000+ in C-bus are being cut yesterday and today... Still have not heard if we are safe. Team meeting at 9:00am EST to hear. Long Run planned tonight... I am thinking 10-11 miles. UPDATE: I still have a job... YAHOO!! I ran... but not 10... close...

Slept like a rock... It was great... Ride tonight... Maybe... If the rain holds off. If not it will probably be a cleaning day and may bring in the bike and do a trainer spin. UPDATE: Cardinal Health Cutting 600 Jobs - Health care products and services company Cardinal Health Inc. says it will cut 600 jobs as it streamlines its business into two primary segments... Cardinal says the job cuts will include 160 positions that are currently open and will not be filled. Employees whose jobs are eliminated will be offered severance benefits. My company, My segment... Haven't heard anything yet... Lets say a little prayer... Things are definately tense and quiet here at the office.

Morning ride. Started off cloudy and cool... about 63. Felt good out there. Wind picked up when the clouds moved out. Of course it couldn't be a tail wind. I feel a lot better after this ride then the last 50 miler two weeks ago. Longest ride EVER... and guess what? Next Saturday will be the same way... crazy how that works.

Now it is time to go to the pool and work on my tan. Have a good one all.

Fireworks were fun last night... Drank some good beer... Ate some Japanese Steakhouse and gourged myself on some shrimp, lobster, beef and chicken... Today we may hit up a movie or just hang at home... tomorrow is a long ride. Should be a good weekend.
