250wu; 200, 2x100, 200, 2x100, 200: all on 1:30/100. 200s RPE4, 100s RPE7. Held 1:10a on the 100s. 150wd.
Welcome to taper. Sweet, seet, decadent taper. Man was it nice to get an extra hour of sleep this morning. Going to swim at lunch today, then trick0or0treating tonight with Nola and Amy, Nola's boyfriend Brandon, his brother Justin and Katie and Andy.
Dogs. Didn't mention the dogs in my ride report from Saturday. I was molested by not one but 4 dogs, all of them labs. What's up with that. And they were all stealthy, too, never barked once until they were within 10 yards of me. The first ran beside me for a good 100 yards and even nipped at my heel. Ten miles later, three big black labs ran out of their yard, straight at me. I swerved left thinking I was going to have to dump it in the ditch, but at the last second they backed off.
Nothing like a little adrenaline injuection to help get through a long ride.

Good ride! Cold...38 at the start, 50s at the end. Rode strongly the whole way and had a good, strong but easy transition run afterwards. No rest stops on the bike. Since it was cold, didn't need any more fluids than I started with. One gel every 30 minutes on the bike.

OK, so I suck. I had a big 20min bike/2hr run scheduled yesterday. I didn't do it. I was exhausted from the day before's non-stop 5:30am to 9:30pm work and ride and meet and talk-athon. So I went home and sat on the couch. And I started thinking about Miami, and Wilma, and my race there in 17 days. And how millions in S. FL don't have power and how they're saying it may be a month before power's fully restored, and how I'm questioning if the race is going to go off, and if I'll have wasted 20 weeks training for this thing. And yeah I know my triathlon inconvenience is nothing compared to people actually directly affected by the hurricaine, but if this race gets cancelled, that'll be two-for-two "A" races cancelled for hurricaines this year, And that just sucks.
Positive thoughts.

Man am I tired today. Don't know how I'm going to get through my 20min bike/2hr run brick tonight. But taper is just 5 days away.
The TNT info meeting went really well. We signed up 16 people, including I think 6 triathletes. We have one meeting to go, and I know of two people that are comitted to signing up fot tri still. Woo hoo.
Got interviewed for Augusta Magazine article also. Hmmm. What to wear for photo shoot....

50 minutes: 10 rpe3, 10 rpe5, 10 rpe7, 10 rpe5, 10 rpe3. Averaged 21.2 for the middle 30 minutes. Pretty good, esp considering this route has a hairpin turn every 1.5 miles. Lots of accelerations.
