Plano Balloon Festival 1/2 Marathon

Had a good time this morning, but really disappointed with my race. Started well, and by two miles had bridged up to a group of runners from Frisco Running Club. We were in the top 10 at that point, and I paced with them at a challenging, but sustainable speed. We were probably averaging around 7:20/mi.

However, I fell apart a little after mile 9. Chest tightened up and breathing got labored (HR probably spiked up.) I walked the next aid station to get under control and could never get back into rhythm. Became a run/walk for the rest of the race, and I easily lost 5 or 6 positions overall.

Final time: 1:41:32

It was good enough for 1st in my AG. (13th ovearll) However, I have to attribute that to a shallow field, rather than a good run on my part.

Still, it was a challenging course, with some hills in the early miles and pleasant, windy course using a lot of the trails in the area. Glad I got to race it.

Woke up too late to hit the track, but did get in a short run before Beth met frieds for her run.

Preston Ridge trail to Guious and back. Steady marathon pace; skipped the strides.

Right arch has been bothering me a bit; hence decided not run last night. Went ahead and ran this morning. It was still irritated a bit. Hope it heals before this weekend.
