Wasn't in the mood to do the metric by myself so I decided last night to go do a 5k this am. Debated between the Runway 5k which would have been cool and the Harvest 5k. I've done the Harvest course two previous times (7/06 and 11/06). Decided to do this one so I would have a true comparison of where my run fitness/speed are compared to last year at this time. Last year, I ran my best 5k to that point, 30:10 or so. I hoped that I had really improved since then so I wanted to see for sure. Standing around waiting on the start, I picked a random goal of 27:00--9:15; 9:00; and 8:45 for my split goals. Ended up doing 8:33; 9:03; 8:39. Mile 1 was mostly downhill and Mile 2 was a steady up, Mile 3 was flat. I was off my split goals but came in under my overall goal. I'll take that.

Called it a sick day....feeling crappy after my test this am.  Make up my run tomorrow. 

 


 

 

WTF??? I'm all mopey and tired today.  I had to go in this morning for my 6 month follow-up tests. I've been doing the PET scans where they inject you with radioactive sugar but they've switched me back to CT scans with contrast.  As much as I dislike the whole glow in the dark thing, I liked the PETs better.  I had a pretty much guaranteed 2 hr nap as you have to lay around for an hour or more after they inject you and then the scanner takes about 40 minutes.  The stupid dye they inject has started making me feel nauseous the last few times that I've had it done.  I thought I was going to blow chunks everywhere but held it in.  Plus, the tech tried twice to start my iv and still couldn't get it. A nurse finally came in and got it on #3 but she even struggled some.  I've never been stuck more than twice and that's only happened like 3 times out of the probably 40 or more times I was stuck during chemo,etc. 

Sighting of the Day or technically, the Almost Didn't See It for the Trees Sighting--Old guy driving a Rascal Scooter wearing full camoflauge while driving on the grass shoulder next to the road.  Almost couldn't see him. Hell of a disguise :)

Max 400 Watts, Avg 225 Watts, Avg 2.25 watts/kg  Not sure if these are good numbers or not...I'm sure my techno tri geek buddies otherwise known as Tommy and Jeff will critique them for me :)

1st time on the computrainer.  Legs still tired from Sat's half-mary.  I took care of today's intervals during the race.  5x:30 on/:30 off; 5:00 spin followed by :60 on/:60 off.  Did this during the race.  HR felt way up and I definitely went anaerobic a couple of times towards the end.

Legs still sore from Sat.  I've got my first Computrainer race tomorrow at Cool Breeze.  This should be interesting...I'm racing with "some of the fastest women in the area" according to the race coordinator.  That should do wonders for the old self-confidence!  This is a series of 6 races, each 10-12 miles long, on the computrainer.  I thought it'd been an interesting way to stay involved all winter.

Here's a pic of my wild crew at halloween....the Storm Trooper looks like me...especially with the mask on :)
