Today's run started at 10,600 feet near the parking lot at the Vail Pass Rest stop. Ramone and I ran up Shrine Pass road for a few miles to Shrine Pass Trail Head and then ran up the single track to the summit @ 12K. It was so beautiful Ramone is out cold now!
About 2200 feet of ascent and mostly above 11K.

Ramone is a Gatorade-bogarter!
Ran up the Berry Picker trail to to Eagles nest and back down. Up in about 46 minutes (3 miles). Ramone was over it by 2 miles! The little guy is such a trooper; Ramone knows how to 'run with his heart' and I love him for that.
Over 2800 feet of climbing

brick off the swim
Rode to the top of Dear Creek from the Gravel pond - 54 minutes. Felt pretty good but never really hammered.
Brick off the run
Wasn't planning on running but I felt really good so what the heck.
Swam at the Gravel Pond. Windy and choppy out there...

Warm-up ride with dills, Tom and Michelle
My bike is starting to become my fastest discipline! I had a great ride today. Tied for first in my age group with a 23.1 avg (ok, the winner had me by one second), but I call that a tie... The telling part was, I never got out of my saddle on the climb up Old Stage Road! I was cruising and keeping my HR in check and everything was firing!
Another first! I broke 40 minutes in an OLY run (barely)... but it was very hot and the course is not a fast run course. I am stoked about this
A great swim for me... I've never broken 30 minutes in an OLY before! This was a huge catalyst for me to race well on the bike and run. I was 4 minutes faster than last year and pumped!
There was a run to transition so my official time is 30:24 and 8 minutes behind the winner of my Age group, but I wasn't racing him... I was racing me!
AND! I did have a faster bike/run combination than the winner of my age group, Tim Sandell!
