Good race, but it felt AWFUL!! I am just not made to run in the heat in the afternoon. Official time was 28:30, guess it took me an extra second to stop my Garmin. This is only 8 seconds off my personal best 5K time, so I'm thinking I probably would have PR'd it if they had run it this morning when it was 50 out! Grrrrr. I was actually REALLY surprised when I looked at Garmie after it was over. So I lost to the woman with the perfectly coiffed grey helmet hair and full make up AGAIN! We chatted a bit before the race, I was a bit ahead of her at the start and then she passed me up pretty quickly. I saw her at about mile 2.25 ahead of me and she was walking on one of the hills, so for a brief moment I had some hope, but it was short lived. I really wanted to walk a couple of times, but I gutted it out and finished strong... strong enough to want to puke, ha ha! So a good race in spite of being so late in the afternoon.

REST DAY, although from what, I don't know!  Been a lazy slug this week, I think I needed the mental break from training more than the physical break.  And I DO want to do well at my 5K on Saturday, so I want to go in with really fresh legs.  Plan is to hit the double days next week, do a nice taper going into the first tri of the year!  OWS on Sunday, gotta get the wetsuit out... depending on how cold the water is, I hope to do some with it, and some without it.  Last year the water at the tri was fairly warm and I went without.  Happy Friday everyone!!

Another beautiful morning for a run, and no creepy cars! I ran the 5K route for Saturday's race, plus a bit more. Felt great, ran a comfie pace, I guess moderate because I wasn't bagging it, but still could have gone harder. Really happy with the pace AND the HR! Didn't look at Garmie at all, just ran by RPE and managed to negative split, whoo hoo!! Good news is that Saturday's high is only supposed to be 70-72ish, so not TOO hot for a 4 p.m. run. I would still rather have had it at 8 a.m. when the temp is going to be around 50 though! Would love to PR it, but with the temps being so much higher than normal, not counting on it.

Beautiful cool morning for a run and it felt GREAT!! Just ran and kept an eye on the HR. Felt like I could easily have gone for 10 this morning, nothing like some fresh legs on a cool morning. I did pick up the pace a bit during mile 5 when a car passed me, stopped up ahead and turned around and then pulled off to the side of the road. Yeah, it was creepy, so I picked it up and got out of there. Weather is looking great for a bike this afternoon!

Slept in this morning, and gave up a run in some awesome chilliness... because... because,.... I got my new car last night!!!  Okay, it's pre-owned, but new to me!!  I came home after test driving at the Mini dealership on Saturday, a bit disappointed they couldn't get me financed, and did a Google search of used Mini Countryman vehicles in my area and one popped up at a dealership we've bought about 7 or 8 vehicles from and have NEVER had a problem financing.  The vehicle info on the website was a bit vague, all I knew is it was blue, and had 15,000 miles on it and was a 2011 (the first year they were produced).  Ron and I drove down to their lot and searched for it, no luck and ironically it was sitting up here in our town and we didn't know it!  My son knows one of the pre-owned managers down there, he contacted him about it and arranged for it to be at the Killeen dealership for me to test drive after school.  Now, these Mini's have 3 blues, one good one, one probably tolerable one, and one AWFUL one, and I really wanted a stick shift.  So I drive up and phew... it's the good blue!  Look inside, it's a stick!!!    Test ride was great, go in and start the finance stuff.... in the meantime, the  Mini salesman from Austin emails and says no way on the financing.  THIS dealership had me approved in 15 minutes, INCLUDING extended warranty AND the $700 bike rack!!  And it has more "stuff" on it than the brand new one we were looking at!  Sunroof~~!!!  It was almost dark by the time I got home so I didn't get to take any pics.  I have some time off this afternoon, I'll see if I can find a stock pic I can post, but I am sooo excited!  I have a BIG Mini!!!  4-door!!  Had a hard time going to sleep last night since it seemed as if I just got home and then it was bedtime, and just couldn't get up this morning and will probably miss out this afternoon going to show off the new car to my kids and stopping for some errands and figuring out some of the new doodads on the car...

Wanted to do a long run today, but I could see the storm coming on the radar, so only did 4 miles. Just barely made it before it hit too, perfect timing!! I could feel the temp drop as I got to the corner of my street, and not more than 5 minutes later the skies opened up. Set out a bit fast to get it done faster, so had to take a couple of walk breaks to let the HR come down, still not a bad pace for me!
