"After six months running in Newton Distance, they started to hurt a bit. I wanted to find a shoe that was similarly light-weight, low-drop, and performance-orientated... but without the pain! These were PERFECT. The moment I started running in them, I noticed a perfect blend of cushion and stability and low drop. I felt light on my feet, despite the shoes not being particularly light. I logged a PR half marathon in them after six weeks. After nine months I retired my first pair, and bought two others to make sure I always have some. I've started running longer distances in New Balance Minimus Trails, but these remain my go-to shoe for long runs and recovery runs, or even speed work. I love them!"Abb999

A bit goofy in some ways (silver sole?!)

I have a wide foot, and this shoe immediately fit me perfectly, with plenty of room in the toe box without give in the mid-foot or heel. If Brooks fit you well, this will be no exception. I love the compromise between some limited cushion and a low drop and light weight. When wearing them, the weight (see below) isn't a factor... pure flow is actually a really good description of how I feel when wearing these. You get good minimal drop without the sensation of pounding the road (minimal shoes) or being overly cushioned and at-risk of pronation (traditional running shoes).

A bit heavy compared to similar offerings from Newton. Goofy looking in some ways. Compared to Minimal shoes, the road feel is muted (but that's what you sacrifice to have some cushion), so sometimes I can lose 20-30 seconds in my pace without really noticing. That is probably a weakness with the wearer not the shoe! Reviews comment on the seemingly functionless band over the tongue and the split in the sole between the big toe and the rest of the toes. I neither noticed nor cared about these things...
