Total Time = 1h 02m 4s
Overall Rank = 87/780
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 16/76
Pre-race routine:

Layout the transition area; take in an energy bar (one hour to 45 minutes prior to wave start); water; stretching.
Event warmup:

Stretching stretching stretching.
Swim
  • 06m 8s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim start well. Good/expected performance. Probably one of my most efficient swims, navigationally speaking.
Transition 1
  • 03m 17s
Comments:

Time is long due to extremely long distance to run from the swim exit to the transition area (between a quarter and half mile).
Bike
  • 29m 6s
  • 10 miles
  • 20.62 mile/hr
Comments:

Overall bike performance better than normal but still shows my biggest weakness of all three disciplines. CRAZY insane accident (didn't see the actual accident) but an elite triathlete hit a car who was turning where he shouldn't have turned (into race traffic).
What would you do differently?:

Well, I'm improving but I still need to get the hills and wind beat. Need to improve cadence.
Transition 2
  • 01m 15s
Comments:

Too little room to run the bike from dismount into the transition area and a couple people were running their bike too slowly. Actually happened running the bike to the mounting area as well.
What would you do differently?:

Took too long after getting the shoes on to think about what to do next.
Run
  • 22m 39s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

Run started out a little low on breath, wanting more water. Second mile I was able to pick it up by using my arms more. Finished pretty strong with a solid run to the finish, passing many (although I was trying to pass more people in my age group). Fastest 5k in a triathlon race to date.
What would you do differently?:

More hydration.
Post race
Warm down:

Water water water. Cold water.

Event comments:

I can see my improvements coming slowly.
