Took a bit to get my legs going. Cramped while getting my shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

? Sit while putting on my shoes. Not sure.

Comments:

Overall - smooth bike ride. Uneventful. I tried to enjoy it and I did. I did not kill myself not knowing what to expect in the run.
What would you do differently?:

Ride more to get stronger. Get aerobars.
Transition 2
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

It was fast to get my gear off but finding my running legs were a different story.
What would you do differently?:

I practiced bricks and thought I would have it nailed and I did not. My legs were a bit spent trying to transition out to running.
Run
  • 1h 07m 58s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

Awful run. I did not run with my Garmin and/or HR monitor and I think I came out too fast into the run. I thought I could pace myself but I am guessing I did not by the amount of walking I had to do to finish. I avg a minute slower a mile in the run - lost 7 minutes overall. It was an awful run -
What would you do differently?:

wear my HR monitor or Garmin to gauge my speed so I can slow down and keep an steadier pace.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate a banana and some water. Looked for the closest beer!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I definitely did the bare minimum for training. Finding the time was very difficult with 3 small children. I did what I could. Hopefully I will continue to build my endurance and be able to train more hours as the kids grow.

Event comments:

The race was very organized with the exception of the Sprinters run and the Olympians Bike. It was the same course for a few miles and the runners were scattered all over the road - forcing the Olympic distance bikers to weave in and out of them. Other than that - the race was very organized and I could not have asked for more. The run was ey - the roads were poor and the winding through the neighborhoods felt eternal. Overall though this was a great race for a first time triathlete!
