Comments:

There was an incredible amount of rain the day & night before the race so there was a very strong current . This had the effect of squashing the swim results , I've never been so close to the first person out of the water in a tri before. There waas also a long run along the river bank to the timing mat so more than a minute of my time was not part of the swim. In the pool I cant even swim 500 meters under 12 mins , happy days !
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, this swim is as good as it gets for me.

There was a reasonably long run through transition with the cycling shoes on so that cost me a bit of time. Otherwise T1 went ok.
What would you do differently?:

I need to get hold of tri specific shoes with only 1 velcro strap so I can leave them on the bike.

This is the quickest I've ever managed over any sort of distance. I did nearly the whole race on the tri bars . Super happy to have avg over 18 mph.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing , like the swim this cycle is as good as it gets for me.

What was my best dicipline a few years ago has fallen away badly. I just dont have the necessary miles in the bank to pull out any sort of a decent run. This isnt likely to change for any race this year. If I was in decent run shape this race would have been perfect.
What would you do differently?:

Should have done plenty more running earlier in the year. Think it takes me about 4 months to get into middling running shape & thats without cycling & swimming. As it turned out I was only able to plod along.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of run training.

Event comments:

Just 2 very minor issues with the race , the run was really on the short side , I'm not exactly sure of the distance but it was advertised as a 5 k & was just over 4. The other issue is nothing the race organisers could control , the rain absolutely flogged down for the whole day the race was on. I had my mobile phone in the pocket of my jeans in a plastic bad in my gym bag in transition & it still got wet & stopped working.
