Overall Rank = 54/67
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 6/9
Pre-race routine:

Peanut butter toast and black tea and a banana. general stressing and obsessing over my first triathlon
Event warmup:

Stretching and 5 minute light jog
Swim
  • 09m 30s
  • 300 yards
  • 03m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

I am a terrible swimmer. I was just happy I finished. My time was actually better than my best training day, but my form and breathing were much worse than normal.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing besides better training and just relaxing.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

T1 and T2 times included in bike time total
What would you do differently?:

Got a little list and ran a longer distance than necessary inside transition area. Should have practiced that part once I got there...
Bike
  • 1h 11m 22s
  • 16.5 miles
  • 13.87 mile/hr
Comments:

My chain slipped twice and I spent probably 3 mins and got all greasy putting my chain back on. Probably something I was doing wrong with gear change because it happened going up a hill both times. I passed many people on hills- I train on hills at home in Oregon and this course was generally pretty flat. I got passed a lot on the flats. Woulda been a pretty good bike time without my chain issues...
What would you do differently?:

Know my rental bike better. Practice tight u turns more- lost time here. Otherwise a good ride all things considered.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

T1 and T2 times are in with total bike time. Spent an extra minute drinking a little more water and putting on some more sunblock. I'm an Oregon pasty white girl in Arizona for the weekend....sunblock is mandatory.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe skip the water...
Run
  • 31m 53s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran pretty good. Better than my average training time, I puked up some water around mile 2.5- I think I got 1 too many Dixie cups of water from the water station but I didn't even miss a step- just barfed on the go- I was too close to the finish to slow down.
What would you do differently?:

Drink less water.
Post race
Warm down:

Tried not to barf while I cleaned chain grease off my hands and neck and poured water over my bright red face and neck.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing really except needing to train more

Event comments:

First tri complete! Next order of business: more swim lessons!
