Total Time = 1h 17m 34s
Overall Rank = 41/153
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 3/14
Pre-race routine:

About an hour drive - early, but no problems. I ate nuts and a protein bar in the car and got well hydrated.
Event warmup:

I took several jogs into transition to make sure I could find my bike. I swam and treaded water for about 5 minutes before the event.
Swim
  • 11m 29s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 18s / 100 meters
Comments:

I felt much more comfortable with this swim than last week's. A lot of it was being able to see/sight and the wave was less crowded.
What would you do differently?:

I would have started on the inside of the course. I kept swinging wide left and swimming a few extra meters.
Transition 1
  • 01m 32s
Comments:

Not bad for a T1 with socks!
Bike
  • 43m 9s
  • 14.4 miles
  • 20.02 mile/hr
Comments:

I didn't feel like my biking was particularly strong but I didn't feel like I lost ground either. I stayed consistent and maintained pace with the age group guy ahead of me through most of it, but he pulled away near the end.
What would you do differently?:

I just need to keep practicing with long rides to build endurance.
Transition 2
  • 01m 9s
Comments:

My transitions helped me place ahead of others behind me that were faster. This was solid
Run
  • 20m 16s
  • 2.1 miles
  • 09m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

I have a lot of room for improvement on the run, but with the heat I seemed to be average with the field. My hope was to pace 8:30/mile so that was a disappointment, but I just could not convince my legs to go faster!
What would you do differently?:

As much as I hate it, I need to practice more running in the heat.
Post race
Warm down:

Just a walk around. It wasn't that bad.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The injured leg is coming along but it is still weaker than the other side. I will keep getting faster.

Event comments:

I placed 3rd in my age group for the first time! Granted the Masters winner came out of my group so I was really 4th fastest, but I'll take it. Getting on the podium has been a goal every year and I finally got to have that good feeling. I like it. This may not have been my fastest or best ever, but it was one of the most memorable and it was a well run, organized event.
