Run
Comments: First run went very well. I finished at my goal pace of roughly 8 minute miles. What would you do differently?: Drink a little more before the race. Transition 1
Comments: Don't know any times for transitions. I went at a very relaxed pace. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: The bike segment went well. I definitely need to work on my hill climbing ability but I tried to make up for it by going faster on downhills. This did cause me to almost get hit by a car. It was my fault. I took a corner too fast and went outside the cones and then this car and I did a little dance. No injuries but the lady did yell at me which, in retrospect, seems fair. What would you do differently?: Don't almost get hit by a car. Deal with sweat. I had to take the hill I was going down before my near miss with the car with one eye closed since sweat was burning my eyes terribly. Need a headband that fits my huge head. Transition 2
Comments: No probs. Run
Comments: Slower on this run. I had to stop towards the tops of a few hills to re-catch my breath. That may indicate that I biked too hard. What would you do differently?: Drink more. Bike a little easier so that I save a little more for the second run. Post race
Warm down: Nothing What limited your ability to perform faster: Train on more hills. Event comments: Really nice race for me. Today I got a medal! And not just a participation one. That is the first time I have ever gotten a medal for a performance in my adult life. Last updated: 2009-04-07 12:00 AM

Got to Hinckley with plenty of time to spare. Jarrod and I racked our bikes leisurely.
None. We looked at the hills and said "Screw the warm-up."
