Pre-race routine:

None really. Set up transition and socialized. ;)
Event warmup:

Short 25 yard swim.
Swim
  • 08m 49s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim. Not speedy but focused on sighting which went very well.
What would you do differently?:

Work on speed and sighting at the same time. Stop being so conservative in the water. Fricken' get the heart rate up!!
Transition 1
  • 01m 15s
Comments:

Took a very conservative approach to this transition. Ended up working well for me.
What would you do differently?:

Rubber band my second shoe.
Bike
  • 30m 3s
  • 9.94 miles
  • 19.85 mile/hr
Comments:

Did what I could on the bike. Left quad was complaining on the hills and my pace felt slowish. Went very slowly over a 1/4 mile or so patch of rough road. Had nowhere to go because there was a pack of other riders in the way. Better safe than sorry though, that's for sure. Was very conservative on the corners. Dang I'm a chicken when it comes to some things...
What would you do differently?:

Corner like I'm on rails. :)
Transition 2
  • 01m 12s
Comments:

Average transition. Had my feet out of my shoes before coming to a stop but had a bit too much speed coming into dismount. Had to stop completely before climbing off bike.
What would you do differently?:

Run off of bike.
Run
  • 24m 56s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

Did what I could. Took me two miles just to find my legs. Left quad was still arguing with me. Overall it felt like it was the best I could do. No regrets. Oh, and ONE second faster than last year's run. WHOO HOOO. :)
What would you do differently?:

Stop at aide station for a quick drink. I was THIRSTY.
Post race
Warm down:

None. Stood around and socialized.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not feeling 100%. Low grade cough and sore throat.

Event comments:

Have to work on not being so CONSERVATIVE with everything. I could undoubtedly shave off a lot of time if I weren't contantly playing it SAFE. This factor alone is why longer distances are better for me. In a sprint 2 minutes is an eternity... Thankfully today it didn't matter in regards to my results. I'll take it. No complaints here. :)

Fun time with family and friends. That's what racing is all about!!
