Precipitation
Total Time = 1h 08m 58s
Overall Rank = 175/565
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 15/46
Pre-race routine:

Get up early, eat some Special K with red berries and Powerade Zero. Drive over to Carmel
Event warmup:

Got there late, I don't usually warm up and did not today.
Swim
  • 08m 30s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

I felt good on the swim and caught the people ahead of me quickly and found myself behind a pack of swimmer that took me a long time to get around. I'm not much for shoving through so I just waiting and jumped through holes where I could.
What would you do differently?:

Seed myself more quickly, focus on form.
Transition 1
  • 02m 41s
Comments:

I just practiced the whole jumping on the bike with the shoes already clipped in last week. I guess I didn't do to bad with it.
What would you do differently?:

I spent a lot of time on rain soaked socks and that cost me a ton of time.
Bike
  • 27m 50s
  • 10 miles
  • 21.56 mile/hr
Comments:

The course was great with a ton of volunteers and police keeping traffic away (thanks to both!) The rain mostly held off and the course didn't seem to slick. I didn't think the hills cost me anything really and I enjoyed the ride a lot.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to transition quicker, have water on the bike (duh!! oops) and push it for this distance.
Transition 2
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

My gear wasn't organized because of the rain so I wasted some time and spent more time on wet sock problems but still better than last time.
What would you do differently?:

Set up better, focus, drill for this.
Run
  • 28m 2s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

That was the longest first mile I have ran in a long time. My GPS confirmed their mile was a mile, my legs argued though. I have been battling IT problems for months so I can't complain. I am not a fast runner to begin with so I can't complain, I stayed under a 10min/mile so I'm ok.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster, train more in brick.
Post race
Warm down:

Stopped, ate, drank, walked. Found more food, left nothing behind.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not well enough prepared, some pool problems but not bad. I improved over my last triathlon so I am happy.

Event comments:

I had a good time, wish mother nature would have been more kind but I had a great day, thanks to all the organizers and other athletes for their help and advice.
