Overall Rank = 136/352(M)
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 28/64
Pre-race routine:

Travelled to Kelowna on Friday with Fam.
Checked in hotel and walked around venue.
Saturday went for a swim in the practise area and drove the bike course - essentially spent the day with the fam. Perhaps shold have ridden 1 lap of the bike course. Pre-Race meeting at 4 pm saturday. Checked bike into transition at 5 pm
Sunday got up at 5:30. Morning abblutions. Ate banana and drank 24oz Accelerade. Went to get body marked. Ate baggle and cream cheese (from hotel restaurant) at 6:30 am and went and got transition set up. Hang around transition until got into wet suit.
Event warmup:

Swam a bit in the practise area.
Swim
  • 25m 49s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 43s / 100 meters
Comments:

Need more speed. Felt better coming out of the swim than during the sprint earlier in the year.
What would you do differently?:

As Dorrie would say in Nemo - "Just keep swimming, just keeping swimming..."
Transition 1
  • 02m 18s
Comments:

Ranked 313 out of 352 men so pretty piss poor. Issue geting out of wet suit. Put on socks. Messed around with Garmin. No. 1 T1 guy did it in 1:23. Put on shoes and ran in shoes. Getting on bike was pretty pathetic too. Need more pratise at this T1 I would say.
I was 152 after T1 after coming out the water in 144 place.
What would you do differently?:

Practise bike mount and running with no shoes.
Bike
  • 1h 10m 30s
  • 40 kms
  • 34.04 km/hr
Comments:

Bike leg went well. Held back just enough for the run. Perhaps had 35 km/h in me, but would have had no juice for the end of the run. Overall happy except for the transitions either side.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster.
Transition 2
  • 01m 59s
Comments:

Forgot to get out of shoes before it was too late.
Slow women in fron of me caused me to run by her and into the wrong rack area. Had to double back to find my bike rack area.

My transition time was ranked 252 out of 352. Slightly better than T1 performance. Leading T2 guy was 42 secs.

I came out of T2 in 131st place overall M.
What would you do differently?:

Get out of shoes and better dismount.
Run
  • 46m 58s
  • 10 kms
  • 04m 42s  min/km
Comments:

Happy considering I hadnt run the distance too often in prep.
I left some time on the table for sure.
What would you do differently?:

Keep training.
Post race
Warm down:

None

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fitness and transitions.

Event comments:

Awesome event.
One for next year.
