Pre-race routine:

Up at 4:00am, on the road at 4:30. Stopped at WAWA and had a coffee, plus 2 bananas and an Odwall bar. Drank 1 bottle of water.
Event warmup:

Did some light swimming at pre-start, otherwise nothing else.
Swim
  • 33m 31s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

Did not have a good swim at all. Breathing was poor, could not find a rhythm, sighted poorly, just not a good swim
What would you do differently?:

Not sure I could have done anything different, just a sign of things to come.
Transition 1
  • 03m 53s
Comments:

Took my time. sat down on curb to rest a little. Wetsuit was a bear, but isn't it always!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really. I took my time, rested a little.
Bike
  • 1h 05m 41s
  • 23.85 miles
  • 21.79 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike course was ok. Road was smooth in parts, rough in others. Some potholes, manholes, grates, but they are everywhere anyway. I didn't feel well the first half probably, but then rode better in the second part. The college campus was kindof neat, because it had some turns and stuff to break up the monotony.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Drank enough, had one powergel, rode as hard as I could.
Transition 2
  • 03m 24s
Comments:

Nothing specific. Sat down and rested for a bit again. Drank some water.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Im not in any hurry in my transitions.
Run
  • 1h 09m 44s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 11m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

Well, this is where the wheels fell off. Or should I say my knee fell off! Even though I was wearing my clunky knee brace, my IT band problems reared their ugly head! I tried to run as much as I could, but I ended up walking the majority of the run. The aid stations were great, as I was able to drink and get some cool cloths. Extremely frustrating not to be able to run. Some nice lady running in a cowboy hat told me to finish strong towards the end, so I gritted my teeth and finished running. Sat down on the hill by transition, and brooded for a while.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure anything. Need to get my IT problem under control
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing really. Walked around finish area for a little. While I was eating the post race meal, the father who comptes with his son finished. Kindof changed my attitude about things.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Knee problems, confidence swimming.

Event comments:

I thought this was a very well organized race. The food was much better than at Black Bear, there were plenty of volunteers, and everybody had a smile on their face!
