Overall Rank = 118/400
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 5/29
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4AM even though alarm was set for 4:30AM. Tried to fall back to sleep but not really time for it. Said some prayers for the race and got ready. Ate 1/2 bagel and had water and coffee.
Event warmup:

Did 100 meters in the pool. Water was warm...even for me!
Swim
  • 06m 42s
  • 328 yards
  • 02m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

I finally felt pretty relaxed on the swim. Swam about 100 meters then it started getting crowded. Unfortunately I had to walk some since every time I tried to swim I kept hitting the guy in front of me. Swam every chance I could though. Great swim time for me!
What would you do differently?:

Seed myself at a faster time. Make people pass me up!
Transition 1
  • 01m 35s
What would you do differently?:

Learn to be faster in T1!
Bike
  • 37m 53s
  • 12 miles
  • 19.00 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike course was longer than 12 miles. Glad I maintained 19mph but my Garmin says I averaged over 19.5. I hit start only after riding about a tenth of a mile so I know it's pretty accurate.

I really enjoyed my new tri bike! I think I was only passed up by one woman. And Justin ...I thought about you every time I "chicked" a guy!
What would you do differently?:

Learn to drink in aero.
Transition 2
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

No problems. Remembered to take off the bike shoes this time.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe count the bike racks from both ends so I know where my bike is from the other side. (I counted coming out of swim but didn't think about needing to know the other direction.)
Run
  • 27m 27s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 09s  min/mile
Comments:

Run was hot! No water at first aid station so had to drink Gatorade. Got water at the second one and threw it on me. Felt better for a little bit. Then my right side started to cramp. Only one more mile to go though.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to run faster in the heat! Run was about 45 seconds per mile slower than my last race.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate ice cream sandwich and pizza. Yum! Talked to friends.

Event comments:

A little upset the only difference between me and slot #3 was a minute. If I would have ran like I did at my last race, I would have had it. It was a fun race. I would do it again.
