Total Time = 1h 28m 21s
Overall Rank = 245/345
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 155/187
Pre-race routine:

Ride bike to race start, nothing special just find a spot to rack the bike and get changed into suit....
Event warmup:

Riding to race
Swim
  • 13m 46s
  • 740 meters
  • 01m 52s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim is always my strongest event, We should run a race backwards one day for those of us that like the swim.....
What would you do differently?:

Start in a faster heat
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

No transition time as you run from the pool to the bike, I have laces on my bike shoes and therefore cannot run with the shoes attached to the bike. I could likely shave a minute if I had other shoes and didn't have to stop and tie the laces....
What would you do differently?:

gel?? some form of energy intake either at the transition or just hitting the bike.
Bike
  • 43m 34s
  • 20 kms
  • 27.54 km/hr
Comments:

My drink was way too sweet... I'll have to ensure that my drink is more watery. I found I could not drink enough as the drink was too sweet.
What would you do differently?:

More hill training and more miles to get my knees into shape
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Missed the rack twice while racking, little things that start to throw off my thinking. Need to look at pace and cadence
What would you do differently?:

more miles for training, pushing hills instead of riding hillls
Run
  • 31m 2s
  • 5 kms
  • 06m 13s  min/km
Comments:

I'm a big guy and the knees really felt sore on the hills.
What would you do differently?:

Lighter shirt to keep cool
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I entered the race with only one or two days planning when I realized I would be in town. More planning and appropriate training will increase my performace.

Event comments:

I skipped the post race stuff for the option of heading home for a hot shower and lunch!
