Run
Comments: First mile I tried to hold myself back and let a lot of runners go past me, I didn't want to get caught up in the emotion of the start like I did in a 10k 2 years ago. After things settled down I latched onto the end of a large group of runners and stayed with them for first 5 miles and had a consistent pace throughout. Spoke with a guy running in 5-fingers for a bit then from there I slowly picked up the pace and negative split each mile thereafter. At mile 8 I was starting to breath hard, mile 9 5k hard and gave it all I could for the end, had nothing left to sprint, just a fast run in. Oh yeah, it was very windy today which helped in spots like but hurt going against it, just like running hills! What would you do differently?: Nothing at all, it was a PR! Overall I was very satisfied with this run. This was a very good indicator for my fitness in starting the 1/2M training plan. Post race
Warm down: Some walking and went up a bit to wait for my wife to come in. Rode the MTB home after seeing the preliminary results. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just need to gain more run fitness Event comments: This is a smallish race event on a very flat course throughout a large neighborhood. A lot of of the fast Space Coast runners club were there as prep for the Space Coast 1/2M and Marathon that is in a couple of weeks. Between mile 3.5 and 7.5 is a double loop that only had 1 water station. Each mile before that had a water station, didn't understand that part of the setup. Last updated: 2009-07-31 12:00 AM
