Pre-race routine:

Got dropped off to pick up my chip. Then met the wife and kids and went over to the Mall with them to watch them get a quick bite to eat. We walked to the Doubletree from there.
Event warmup:

I carried Sam (36 pounds) for most of the walk. A nice warm up for me quads. Just stretched and moved about waiting for the race start.

Comments:

I went out hard, like I always do. I tried to ease up after hitting the one mile mark at 7:30. In the Pentagon parking lot, I just concentrated on my form and finishing.
What would you do differently?:

I didn't think I had that kind of day in me. I was just hoping to get close to 25 minutes.
Post race
Warm down:

I cheered for other runners and hung out with the family and firemen.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

This was a PR, so I can't complain.

Event comments:

I thought it was a well organized, comfortable race. Finishing below a giant flag held aloft by two fire trucks was very cool.

Performance: Good
I hit the one mile mark at 7:30 and the two mile mark at 15:15.
Course: Flat as a pancake. Hitting the third mile in the full sun of the Pentagon parking lot would have been much, much worse if the day was ten degrees hotter.
