Total Time = 2h 19m 51s
Overall Rank = 18/67
Age Group = 20-29
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Up early, ate a kettleman's breaksfast bagel (thanks eric!) and a coffee. Drank tons of water.
Event warmup:

Not much time to warmup, a few strides then a 5 min swim warmup
Swim
  • 34m 31s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 06s / 100 yards
Comments:

Worst swim of my life, my sighting was so bad they basically assigned one kayaker solely to mee to stop me from swimming out intot he middle of the lake. Really really terrible, I swam like a drunk driver, bet I did 1750M. I can swim so much faster w/o a wetsuit!
What would you do differently?:

Sight (much) better, stay in the pack so I can draft
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Included in the swim time, they had strippers! THey were awesome, first time i've been stripped and it was quick! Still no tri shoes so I had to run out on my cleats. Good transitition though.
What would you do differently?:

Get tri shoes.
Bike
  • 1h 06m 41s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 22.36 mile/hr
Comments:

Lost the little sponge on top of my aero bottle going over a bump, so instead of drinking my gatorade it got splashed all over my bike, and me.
had a 180 degree turn, which I HATE on a bike. Also left a bit of glue on my rims (first time gluing tubulars) so my breaking was a little sketchy and I was wary of taking corners too tight. Overall good biek though, used a 56T chainring, but may go back to a smaller one.
What would you do differently?:

put elastic band on my drink
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Ran right past my rack spot! Also no quick laces on my shoes so I had to tie them, but my hands were a little shaky...bit of a sloppy transition. Time included in run time.
What would you do differently?:

Get better laces, think about where my bike belongs!
Run
  • 38m 40s
  • 10 kms
  • 03m 52s  min/km
Comments:

Good run, could have gone ahrder though, I finished with too much in the tank. Second transition was included in the run time, so overall I was pretty happy with it.
What would you do differently?:

Run harder in the first 5K
Post race
Warm down:

ate lots of watermellon and jumped int he water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my horrible swimming abilities.

Event comments:

Decent race overall, though the course was a bit too small. I think Cornwall could stand to close off a few more streets on a Sunday morning! They should try and stick a few hill in somewhere if possible.
