Overall Rank = 529/800
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 9/20
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:45 am and showered. Drank some pineapple coconut juice and left at 5:30 am with my husband and son. Ate a Mojo Honey Roasted Peanut bar on the way.
Event warmup:

Got my transition area set up, checked out the route, and made a potty trip. Was feeling a little rushed.
Swim
  • 07m 45s
  • 328 yards
  • 02m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

Was really disappointed in my swim. Never felt like I could get into a groove and ended up swimming breast stroke most of the way. Really surprised I ended up 5th out of the water. Water felt good, not too cold, since the air temp was cooler and treading water for the deep water start was a good warmup.
What would you do differently?:

More practice at open water swim.
Transition 1
  • 03m 3s
Comments:

Took the time to wash off my feet and attempt to dry them. Wore thin Asic socks and Nikes. First time I haven't used Yankz (was having problems getting them adjusted correctly) and may have cost me some time. Put on my race belt and number before ride.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe go back to my Yankz next time but a lot of the transition times were right around mine.
Bike
  • 37m 49s
  • 10 miles
  • 15.87 mile/hr
Comments:

I like this bike course but this was my slowest time yet on it in the 3 times I've raced the course.
What would you do differently?:

More bike, bike, bike ... maybe a spinning class this winter.
Transition 2
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

Nothing to do but take off my helmet, put on my visor, and head out.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 35m 50s
  • 3 miles
  • 11m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

My toes were numb from getting so cold on the bike while they were still wet. Took about a mile to get the feeling back in them. Warmed up running 1'/walking 1' for about the first mile then ran about 3'/walked 1'. Nice to have my DH, DS at the finish line to cheer me on.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, this was my best 3 mile run yet. Maybe running with Woodlands Fit is helping.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed a Coke and banana, changed into some dry clothes and took off pretty quickly since my family was waiting on me.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Attitude. My heart wasn't really into training for this race since my focus has been on my half mary training/running. I was just kind of ready to get it over with. But I've got no complaints ... cut 1:10 off my previous time on the course.

Event comments:

I would definitely do this race again next year. It was great to see the blind C Difference athletes out there!! A big congratulations to them ... remarkable!!
