Run
  • 2h 57m 51s
  • 26.22 miles
  • 06m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Hit the wall around 34Km mark, last 8 were really tough.
What would you do differently?:

First marathon, I guess I would train more for longer distances!
It's now tuesday and I am still hobbling around, my legs are sorer than they have ever been.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around a bit, then stretched

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Achilles started to burn around 32K, and I had to change to a slower pace with quicker turnover. Did the first 1/2 in 1:26 so I slowed considerably for the second 1/2. Need more long distance training.

Event comments:

The only thing that prevented me from giving this race a 5 was the lack of nutrition on the course. The website said 'gels available on the course' but in fact there was only one station at the 28km mark that had gels, and two banana stations along the way. ALso the stations for the last 10K didnt have any gatorade, only water.
I am really really, REALLY sore, I hope I can be a pace bunny this Sunday for a 5K!

Performance: Good
Course: Great course, not too hilly, bit of a bottleneck at the start, but I just need to get used to elbowing my way to the front! Really cool to run along the F1 circuit track (though it wont be used for F1 races anymore!) and starting on the bridge was cool. The lap inside the Olympic statium was sort of anti-climactic though, because the cikers had the inside lanes so the runners were kind of stuck on the outside lane of the track.
