Comments:

This was a bit silly of me to run this race. I'd only run 30 miles all year prior to this 1/2 mary. I ran a whopping 4.something miles all of September. But I did go elk hunting for a week! That was the only training I could come up with!
I started this race with the intentions of doing a few 8 minute miles until I ran out of gas and then I'd walk the rest.....I never ran out of gas! I clicked off an 8min pace like clockwork.?.? Don't ask me how. I did finally hit a bit of a wall at about mile 12, but I wasn't about to walk at that point, so I gritted my way through the end.
Only one problem that I can see w/this training plan....It's almost impossible to walk the next day!! :)
What would you do differently?:

Train a little bit would be good.
Post race
Warm down:

Water, muffin and cheered for some friends coming into the finish. Oh, and stretched a bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

No training

Event comments:

I loved this race! Very festive atmosphere and over 1500 runners crossed the line. Leavenworth is a beautiful place to spend some time and we spent the rest of the weekend enjoying Oktoberfest!

Performance: Good
Course: This is a USATF certified course for the Marathon and Half-Marathon (Cert # WA 05007 BL). Both courses start and finish at the U.S. Fish Hatchery. Marathoners run the half-marathon course twice. The course runs on a combination of scenic country roads and trails around Leavenworth bordering the Wenatchee National Forest and Alpine Lakes Wilderness area. Each course is about 10% dirt trail along the Wenatchee River in Waterfront Park. Within the first 4 miles there is a two-mile ascent to a turn-around near the Snow Lakes Trailhead on Icicle Road. After the two mile descent after the turn-around, the course is rolling. You may not PR on this course, but it will likely be the most beautiful and scenic marathon course you have ever run.
