Swim
Comments: Terrible swim. Current aided time, but could not capitalize on it. Not sure what went wrong exactly, but I think it was that I went off course, essentially not swimming in the line that everyone else was. What would you do differently?: Navigate 100 X better. Ouch. That hurt my time. Transition 1
Comments: Good T1. It was not as fast as billed. I think I could probably swap a minute with my swim, and think that is more of a reflection of reality. My swim was still bad even with the swap. Even with the strippers, my suit did not come right off. I also screwed up and didn't put on my helmet at my bike. I had to stop while running and do it, which ate up time. So all in all.. good, but not good T1. What would you do differently?: Think.. Think.. and more Thinking about what I am doing. Bike
Comments: Good bike split. Was going to sit back on this and take it easy, but after my swim and T1, decided not to. Got caught up in some packs and did pretty much nothing but pass slower riders. That's the price you pay for starting in last waves in a race with 2600 starters. I was strong on this, relatively speaking. I was not peaked for this race, just.. 'prepared'. Did as well as expected, so I am satisfied. What would you do differently?: Not much. Would like to have started earlier. There was a distinct advantage to starting earlier. By the time I got to mile 40, the sun was fully blazing in the sky, and the winds were picking up. Something the early riders got to avoid. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty good here. Not much to say. Fairly neutral spot in Transition. What would you do differently?: Nothing.. Just try for faster. Run
Comments: I wanted to keep in at 9:00 miles unless I felt that I could do faster. I was able to do what I wanted here. I think I could have maybe put out a 1:55 with a little more effort, but I just wasn't wanting to push anymore. I had fun on that course. If anything, the run course is the biggest selling point of the Augusta 70.3, and that's even on top of the current aided swim. What would you do differently?: Nothing.. go faster. Post race
Warm down: Walked to the Atlanta Triathlon Club Tent and met up with the 37 other finishers we had there that day. Cheered on others who were still on the course. What limited your ability to perform faster: Was not in peak shape, or anywhere close to it. Not bad shape, just not peak. Too many distractions this year, financial, job, etc.. to keep 100% focus on being in the right shape. Hopefully that changes next year for Wisconsin. Might be on the right track as I am typing this at my new job. Event comments: Excellent first time race. Highly recommended. I will return in 2011 to get even with that swim. Moo takes precedence next year. Last updated: 2009-10-06 12:00 AM

Ate some peanut butter wafer type things. Forgot to bring anykind of pre race nutrition. Else, just set up T, and headed over to the start. My wave was the first in the Male 40-44. 8:46 AM start time. 1:16 after the pros went off.
Ran up and down a hill near the start x2, just to get the HR going. Didn't want to go from 0-100mph HR. Something I have been watching.
