Pre-race routine:

Arrive early, stay warm and light joging.
Run
  • 1h 07m 19s
  • 10 kms
  • 06m 44s  min/km
Comments:

I kept my lon run pace until the 5th mile - then I increased slightly.
Took a goo 45 min prior. Electrolytes at halfway mark. Sipped water (two gulps) at each aid station (4ea).
What would you do differently?:

I'll have more of a routine at my next (second) 10K. I didn't know what to do with nutrition. I’ll have that down next time.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked as I ate a banana, ham sandwich, dirty rice and a bagel.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of experience. This was the first time to run this far. It is my furthest long run to date.

Event comments:

This was a well organized local race. Very worthy cause (Pensacola Ronald McDonald Hourse ). The weather was windy and cold (at first) for us Floridians starting out at 47 deg and warming up once the sun rose. Almost no residential cheering but there were lots of volunteers to fill that void. There was one resident that deserves honorable mention. He and his young daughter stood in the driveway blaring music dancing and waiving to the runners. They were within a mile of the finish so it was a welcomed gesture.

Over 300 participants so I hope the RMH did well.

Thanks to All
