Total Time = 1h 18m 52s
Overall Rank = 121/600
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 16/40
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 3:15am, had a protein shake, loaded the car, and made the 2 hour drive to Miami U with my buddies Dave and Ryan.
Event warmup:

Did some light stretching and had a GU.
Swim
  • 08m 14s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 53s / 100 yards
Comments:

I felt like I had a really good swim. I wasn't passed by anyone, but I passed approx. 5 or 6 people.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I have been swimming pretty steady all winter long and felt I was as prepared for this swim as I could be.
Transition 1
  • 00m 44s
Comments:

I was probably in the top 10 as far as T1 times......LOL, that was because it was so cold and everyone else took the time to dress appropriately for the bike. I decided to rough it and hopped right on my bike and away I went.

I also had my shoes clipped into my pedals. I almost fell over trying to get my feet into my shoes. I chalked it up to the 1st race of the year and lack of practice.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 47m 51s
  • 12.74 miles
  • 15.97 mile/hr
Comments:

I'm pretty sure by bike time includes my T2 time also. My bike time sucked either way. I have been training for a marathon since Jan. 1st, so my training focus has been running. My bike performance really showed that during this race. I though running so much would have helped me on the bike a little bit, but it didn't. I'm looking forward to this marathon being over so I can focus more on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Train more on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Again, I think my T2 time was included in the bike. I had some trouble getting my shoes on, so I don't think my T2 was as fast as T1.
Run
  • 22m 46s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

I appreciate the compliment, but I don't think my run was this fast. I know it was decent for me, but a decent 5k for me is probably 24 mins.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched a little bit and waited for Dave and Ryan to finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The bike.......

Event comments:

I beat last years time by close to 8 minutes.......Even if my run time was off by a couple of minutes, I still crushed last years time. That's all I wanted to accomplish during this race.
