Pre-race routine:

Awoke in Ephraim - aunt's condo; coffee, bagel, water and drove to Egg Harbor. Drizzling rain!! freaking out a bit.
Event warmup:

Warmed up in the water a bit with Amy Jo - laughed and joked - nerves felt better especially since the water was glass! Race was delayed a 1/2 hour due to lightening.

Comments:

Proud that i wasn't starting last in the age group - i wasn't terrified! hooray! Watched out for feet/arms and tried to get the HR low again.

Tried to get in a great body position; head down/hips, etc. Just plowed away and it felt great. trimmed a few minutes from last year so great!

Get a wet suit that fits; train more

Comments:

Couldn't ask for better conditions - overcast and warm. Well maybe cooler. Started with the classic shuffle and got the side stiches around mile 3. slowed a bit. walked through aid stations and walked up the killer bluff. Total mental head game the last 5 miles - felt alone and tired. took gels as needed. hmmmmm.

Better plan next time. HHH made me a better biker but not a better triathlete. Was sad my family wasn't there but had fun with great friends and my aunt. Still love this race and town.
