Pre-race routine:

Arrived at Aaron's house at around 5:18 (slept until 5:01!) Luckily, had all my gear ready. Aaron, Jason, Scott and I arrived in plenty of time and took bus to the starting line.

light stretching and a little running in place.

Comments:

Took a conservative approach. First 5 miles went by pretty fast and felt good. Both calves were feeling OK. Glad I dressed lightly, just shorts, tank, socks and compression sleeves, sunglasses. Developed a nice little blister on the right instep at around mile 6.
What would you do differently?:

A hat would have been nice on the great highway. A little more water would have been nice too.

Warm down:

Lots of walking in and around the expo.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Very limited mileage due to some injuries and soreness. Haven't ran more than about 8 miles (max) in the last few months. The last 100 yards or so through the finishing area was very crowded. I could have knocked a few seconds off with a sprint but decided to just cruise in.

Event comments:

My only complaint was the crowd at the end of the finishing chute. Shoulder to shoulder. Sweat pick-up was at the other end of the expo. Very crowded. Otherwise, a very good race considering the number of people (around 9,000 including the 5K)
