Swim
Comments: Lots of anxiety with Lake MI swim. I'd been practicing swimming parallel to shore b/c I thought that was the course. I didn't practice swimming out into the waves and it gave me some issues. After I got to the first buoy, I did much better, although I was off course twice by a bit. Then I felt good, but did tire more than I should have. Not a great performance, but the 1st time I haven't been one of the last in my wave. That is progress! Happy with my decision to run barefoot and to take the suit off in the water. I stumbled a bit taking it off, but it was the right move. What would you do differently?: I would have practiced the race course, will do that next year Transition 1
Comments: little issue with the helmet, shoes were a little slow to clip in, but not bad What would you do differently?: put helmet on right the first time Bike
Comments: Didn't feel as focused as usual. I think I could have pushed harder, but run felt great, so maybe that's the strategy for a "B" race. What would you do differently?: Not sure Transition 2
Comments: wore socks What would you do differently?: no socks? Run
Comments: Better than I thought. I had no idea what my pace was, just ran as fast as I could without being in pain or overheating. It was freaking hot. I dumped water on my head and ran toward the hose to keep cool. I think not jamming too hard on the bike may have been the key. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: cold wet towel and water What limited your ability to perform faster: heat, waves Event comments: Thought the buoys were pretty tiny. Road traffic is an issue, I heard someone got hit by a car. I also saw a crazy driver at the turn around...he wouldn't wait for the biker to turn. I didn't stay for the post-race activities b/c I had plans, but heard the music was good. Last updated: 2010-03-13 12:00 AM
