Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4 AM and took a hot shower, double checked my bag and headed to meet my ride to the race.
Event warmup:

This was a point to point race, So I got everything to the correct transition spot, got body marked, got my chip and then took a little swim at the entry of the swim, and then at the swim exit. Spent a few minutes talking to friends and then waited. I was really calm before this race, no nerves to speak of.
Swim
  • 10m 42s
  • 580 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

I felt really good on this swim. Since we started every three seconds, there was not a lot of bumping during the swim. The only time I felt people was rounding the buoys. I was disapointed with my swim time at first, but that was when I thought it was 500 yards, turns out it was almost 600 yds. Felt strong, and kept a good pace.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 44s
Comments:

I had trouble getting on one of my bike shoes. I had to sit down to get it on my foot. Not sure why this happened.
What would you do differently?:

Get inot my shoes easier!
Bike
  • 41m 32s
  • 13 miles
  • 18.78 mile/hr
Comments:

My computer was not registering on this segment, it must have gotten hit during transport or something. I thought about stopping and fixing it, but decided against that and would just go by effort. I oushed it on the bike and passed a lot of people. What a difference a year makes. I was able to get in aero a good portion of the race and I was in the right gear when I needed to.
What would you do differently?:

Check my bike computer before ride, if for nothing else, to know the distance.
Transition 2
  • 01m 12s
Comments:

Had a nother problem with my shoe, different foot. Again, had to sit down to get it on.
What would you do differently?:

not sure
Run
  • 25m 44s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 18s  min/mile
Comments:

The run is uphill for about 1.5 miles, so I knew I had to continue through the first half, and once I made it to the 1.5 mark, the second half would be gravy. There were people lining up along the road, some with water hoses cheering us on. The last mile was my fasted it felt. No walking.
What would you do differently?:

work on hills
Post race
Warm down:

ice cold towels, sprinkle tents and watermelons!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

not sure if the missing bike computer info helped or hurt me...

Event comments:

Love doing this race. Very fun.
