Age Group Rank = 6/28
Pre-race routine:

Woke up around 4 am (after finally getting to sleep around 1:30 because of the storms). Loaded the bikes and ate a bagel with cream cheese.
Event warmup:

Not much. Should have stretched and run a little bit.
Swim
  • 08m 48s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

Very slow until the first marker. Seems like everyone came to a dead stop. Had to swim around a lot of people.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe try to start in the front (and outside) of the wave.
Transition 1
  • 02m 55s
Comments:

Very very very slow T1. I need to figure out something here. I lost a TON of time.
What would you do differently?:

Need to try not putting socks on in T1. I've never biked with bare feet in my bike shoes before. Think I may need to practice that, and try it for the next race.
Bike
  • 33m 17s
  • 9.94 miles
  • 17.92 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt pretty good on the bike. I didn't get into aero as much as I wanted to. I had to go around a lot of people, and don't feel comfortable doing that while in aero.
What would you do differently?:

Get into aero a bit more. Keep pushing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 41s
Comments:

This is a pretty good T2 for me. Takes me a little time getting my bike shoes off. They are the type with the ratchet.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe get new bike shoes (Tri shoes).
Run
  • 28m 39s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

A pretty good run for me. Legs felt pretty good. Only took a short time to get them to stop feeling like lead. I'm happy with this time.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Maybe start to sprint to the finish a little further back.
Post race
Warm down:

Hung out with family and the BT-MI Rawk Squad (and Racing Greyhounds)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weight as always. Need to practice transitions more.

Event comments:

This is always a fun race. It will keep me coming back year after year.
