Comments:

I had my fastest Ironman swim to date; broke 1h10'; very pleased.
Transition 1
  • 04m 5s
Comments:

I zoomed through T1 fast and efficient, was really stoked when I saw my buddy Quinton. We ran our bikes out of T1 together. Then he took off like a rocket!
Bike
  • 6h 07m 32s
  • 112 miles
  • 18.28 mile/hr
Comments:

I was very disciplined on the bike and made sure to try and not push too hard too early. I raced well given the crazy climbing this course has. This is by far the hardest bike course I have done in any of my previous 6 Ironman races.

Transition 2
  • 03m 1s
Run
  • 3h 56m 39s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 09m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt like crap starting the run. I ended up running the last 13.1 miles faster than the first 13.1 miles. That has never happened to me before.

Event comments:

This was one of the most unique races I have been in, as the surrounding landscape is one of the most scenic places I have ever been. Much of it reminds me of the Big Island, with substantial lava fields.

The event was wonderfully run.

We were extremely lucky with the weather, as the usual high is around 88 degrees, whereas we topped out just over 70 on race day.

Ironman #7 was a huge success.

My overall finish in this race was my highest placing ever in an Ironman event
