Swim
Comments: I lost my way and went off course twice. I still came out fairly well in the pack... What would you do differently?: It was the worst water ever, I couldn't see anything. I need to sight a little more often and a little better. And start closer to the front of the pack so I don't have to swim around everyone! Transition 1
Comments: I still run with my shoes on so I am a little slower than most. And I sat down to put my socks and shoes on. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. This wasn't too bad for me, now I wear a tri suit instead. Bike
Comments: My legs just weren't into it. I need more cycle training. Especially hills. I must have drank a lot of water in the swim, because as I rounded the last corner of the bike run, I unleashed my stomach contents onto the road... I was having a hard enough time riding let alone riding and puking.... What would you do differently?: I need to learn how to drink and pedal at the same time. I need to push heaps more on the bike leg for the flat roads. I was dead last in my agegroup by the end of the bike, even though I thought I was going pretty fast! (Note, there were 33 people, but 5 didn't finish apparently. So I was last) Transition 2
Comments: As long as I can get my bike shoes off and running shoes in, I am stoked. What would you do differently?: I need to move a little faster getting changed out of bike gear into running gear. I will get there with more practise. Run
Comments: I need to learn to run hills as well. And take my mp3 player next time so I don't get bored :( What would you do differently?: MP3 player! And run more and walk less. Post race
Warm down: Just walking around the expo for the most part. I had to eat, I didn't have enough for breakfast, and didn't eat enough during the race, and I've been eating ever since!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough food. Not enough running! Event comments: It was definitely well organised, that's for sure. There was plenty going on as well, and plenty of seating and things. Food, meal vouchers, and a good race pack. I was pleased. Last updated: 2010-03-29 12:00 AM

Because this race was attached to the Half Ironman, we actually had to be up early to get all our things organised before the half ironman race.
We were at the event at 5.30am, when my race didn't start till 8.30am. We watched the HIM swim, and then had our race briefing and got started.
None really. I use the swim to warm up for the most part.
